Shot the Camp Perry warm up

Well, they aint all good....

After the last match I swapped the upper. It wasnt shooting badly but I had a couple odd ball shots that I couldnt account for so with about 4500 rounds on the bbl I swapped.
Got some good zeros and signed up for the warm up matches. They are 2 80 round matches and an 50 shot EIC. I only took the 80 on Sat and the EIC on Sun.
80 went OK and I verified my zeros at 2-3- and 600 on that range. Shot a 763 out of 800, didnt have a good day on my hind feet.
Standing 180-3x (200 yds)
Sitting rapid 194-3x (200 yds)
Rapid prone 199-10x (300 yds)
slow fire prone 190-6x (600 yards)


The EIC that counts. I need 2 more leg points to get distinguished... I missed getting leg points by 3.. Pretty much have to beat a 95 avg to get into the leg points.

Shot well standing 96, real happy with that as I was 88-90 for 2 years. That is really coming along.

Now for the comedy of errors. If I had shot my avg in ANY of the remaining strings I would have made it.

Sitting I felt real good in prep, stood up and there was a jet ski in the impact area.. (Perry fires into lake Erie, dumbasses on jet skis cant read the warnings or follow instructions given by the rental agencys. Jet skis get confiscated fyi. Boats contain dumbass fisherman who see a lot of splashes and head that way.... they get one warning (lifetime) then their boat is seized. IMHO, we should just shoot through and let them discover why its off limits) Anyway, buy the time the 96F sun was beating on me and we got the LOAD command and dropped into position the pulse was wild. 9 at 11oclock to 9 at 6 oclock. Shot a 94 1X where I normally shoot clean (100) down to 98. So 4 points out the door. Ok I can make it up.

I figured I would make it up at 300. First 6 shots were 10's, something landed in my rt eye, 4- 9's so a 96. Eye booger, grass, mayfly, gnat.... I have no idea but I couldnt see. Not horrid, but not what I needed.

Ok. 600. Get a wind read, fire the first. 8 to the left. Ok missed the call, take some off, 9 rt, add 1/4 min and a 9 rt just out of the 10. Ok lets go to work. Got moved out to a 9- 3 more times in the first 10 shots. No prob, I got this. Wind was dropping and I couldnt find a flag to watch. Found one on the range to the right for the second string, 10-10-9-9-10-10-10-10- SIX!!! -10. No idea where it came from. Ended with a 475 dead on 95% cut was 477.

I have been a bit vexed Mon and Tues. Rifle and cart are still in the truck.

I know you weren't totally happy with the result, but you did better than most of us could. An AR is not easy to shoot beyond 300 yards, and definitely takes skill beyond 500. In my opinion, Well Done

Do that again any other day and you will probable get your leg points. Nicely done hey, WITH distractions no less.

I explained everything in my mind except the 6 at 600. Good to go, just needed a little self flagellation.

Elevation is easy. Windage is witchcraft.
