Shaw barrel 10/22 build.

I have all the patients of a 5 year old at a candy store when there is an unfinished rifle in the works. So, I gathered all my parts and screwed it all together. I bought a Ruger complete 10/22 with a plain barrel (no sights) and scope bases. I had a BX trigger, I bought a set of Amazon rings. Midway was running a special on hogue Ruger stocks for $63 bucks. Any way for under 300 bones I have a Shaw barreled 10/22. I will have a range report tomorrow! I know some have no love for the hogue stock but I wanted to keep the total price down and the price was right.

I have CCI standards, mini mags, federal auto match, some match stuff I can’t remember, American eagle stuff, and some vintage Winchester wildcats… it’s going to be a one gun range day tomorrow.

Nice! Very nice build.

CCI standards, automatch and mini mags shoot well for me in various guns. No doubt you’ll find something there. I’ve had no luck with American Eagle.

It should cycle CCI 1050 fps subsonic… and shoot well to at least 50 yards. Minute of squirrel at 90 yards. Pretty cool with a suppressor. Just sayin.. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Federal automatch shot best from mine. Better than “real” target ammo.

I've had a Hogue stock on my 10/22 for years and found it to be a serviceable stock. I like it.

Waiting on the range report.

I love that ammo!!! Whenever I bump into it and it’s on sale I scoop up the shelf. I works great with just about every gin I’ve tried it in and a bunch of my bolt guns LOVE the stuff.

The first group of mini mags through the new Shaw was a little disheartening, but I kept at it. I shot for a couple hours just shooting groups using Federal auto match and CCI standards. No malfunctions other that a couple failure to feed by releasing the bolt on a full mag. Those went away after 50 rounds in. The last group of federal auto match starts to show its real potential! The only down side is I was aiming 12” above the group and I was out of elevation in the scope!!! I figured I needed 20 moa to get to center of my adjustment and on target. Well my calculations were spot on. I went to the shop and mounted a set of Burris Signature rings with a -10 moa front and a +10 moa rear insert set and centered the scope, bingo 1” low at 25 yards in the indoor range. More to follow with the Shaw 10/22.

I shot the Ruger 77/22 22lr today too with a “new” scope. I had an orphaned 6x redfield tracker in matte that needed a home, it’s perfect on the 77/22. I was drilling racquet ball sized dirt clods ans rocks at 100 with stunning regularity…. Fun day in all!
