OK, it's gone up everywhere. WHY?
I hear because Russia and KSA have held up production to raise prices. The heat wave has slowed refineries and other reasons. But when the media doesn't even mention a 50 cent price jump in gas in 5 days, I smell something being hidden so the current administration doesn't look bad.

Evidently prices are up because some OPEC countries are cutting back on how much crude they're exporting, which, naturally affects global oil prices (supply and demand.) Oil prices rose $10 a gallon in July, and that alone is enough to increase gas prices $.24 a gallon.
Also, this summer heat means refineries have to scale back production for safety reasons, because it's just too hot to produce at full capacity and not run the risk of the thing catching on fire. So not only is the cost of the raw material higher, but less of that and lower utilization means even lower supply, which drives prices up.

This is how this works. When the price per barrel goes up the entire chain from crude to final product (gas) is now worth more so the price increases go straight across to the pump that day.
When the price of a barrel goes down, you have to wait for the entire higher cost chain to drain and the new lower cost stuff to make it all the way to the pump.

Kinda like with primer and powders?
I remember Zee saying that some of his local reloading supply shops finally got backorders in that they ordered when prices were high.... well, even though they're available, they were sold at the higher price, so they got bought at the higher price. Which is now passed on to the consumer.

In the $4.60 ballpark here at the SoCal Inland Empire Arcos. Add about a buck in the same area for those few "extreme gouger" stations.

Exactly! My surplus $30 boxes of primers gathering dust in my shelves became $300 boxes in primers on GB when the panic started.

We have been saving about $70 per month using Kroger/Fry’s/Fred Meyer fuel points
1000 points gets $1 per gallon off upto 35 gallons used for one transaction. We gas up both cars on a single transaction.
To get the 1000 points we buy gift cards when there is a 4X bonus on cards and groceries. We get Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s, a few restaurant cards. Spend $250 on stuff we normally buy get $35 off on gas. The cheaper the gas the greater the discount.

More details: try to buy the cards first week of the month because the points earned in the current month expire at the end of the following month that way we have almost 2 months to use the gas points.
