Just To Prove Them Wrong
Kinda started on a CZ kick.
Watched a video about the new CZ P09 Nocturn and the reviewer had a ton of issues with it.
I watched closely and was sure the issues were self induced by his wife.
So, I bought the gun just to see.
It's been flawless, accurate and comfortable to both shoot and carry.
I think this "gamesman" fad has caused a lot of guns to have malfunctions because of the grip styles that place the thumbs too high on the frame. With trad guns where the slide is outside the frame, it doesn't create an issue because the shooter can tactilly reference the difference between the frame and the slide.
But with guns where the slide rides "inside" the frame, there is no tactile reference and one can "slow" the slide without really knowing it.
And the manufacturers even place a texture on the frame for people to place their thumb. It's useless! It places the thumb exactly where you don't want the thumb to be!
Get the fricking thumbs down and out of the way, the was JMB intended!!!!!!!
Anyway, this gun is one of my favs..

Can we see an example or where you prefer to place your thumbs?
For reference?

Oh, I know where this is going. And I know what method works with any semi auto, regardless of where the slide sits. Not only preventing the slide from slowing, but preventing one from inadvertently holding down the slide stop on smaller weapons, preventing the slide from locking on an empty mag.

A more blatant troll… shooting technique much like weapons technology, have improved since JMB made the 1911.

Great choice! I'm a big fan of the CZs, but somehow I keep talking myself out of buying one.

Suffice it to say, away from the controls and away from the slide. One doesn't need to have both thumbs pointing towards the target. That's what the muzzle is for...

Sounds like we agree. My shooting hand thumb goes up. My support hand thumb runs along the side of the frame. Below the slide and forward enough that it doesn’t interfere with the slide stop.

Well, I cannot speak with experience on the CZ as I’ve never shot one. But, I’ve never had a Glock fail that wasn’t my fault. They do everything I’ve ever asked of them in harsh places. And………visually…..it appears they have a lower bore axis than the CZ. Which, I am quite partial to. I don’t want to give that up. Always been my issue with the Sigs, HKs, and other guns I’ve dealt with. I like a low bore axis. Akin to the HK P7 and PSP. Low is good.

The one you have doesn’t look as bad as others. So, I might like it. Have to try one some day.

Re: Just To Prove Them Wrong
It's essentially a Glock, with a better grip and a bit more beef where the slide rides on the frame. I've shot a lot of Glocks and they are great guns. But they have always felt a little odd in my hand. I might try the new Rock, or Gluger... Or whatever it is...Zee wrote: ↑Wed Sep 10, 2025 11:29 pmWell, I cannot speak with experience on the CZ as I’ve never shot one. But, I’ve never had a Glock fail that wasn’t my fault.
