Losing your hearing sucks

So, was at an outdoor concert tonight in our town.
Because the music was loud, I turned my hearing aids off.

A friend of mine came up and asked "Why'd people poop their pants?"

It was sorta weird I thought, but I went into an explanation of fecal incontinence, some of the common causes, potential remedies etc...

He looked at me strangely.

Then he yelled a little louder, "White people shouldn't dance..."

I like my bifocals
My dentures fit me fine
My hearing aids are perfect
But Lord I miss my mind

A friend told me about his new hearing aid. " I can hear a gnat fart with this thing".

I asked "What kind is it?"

He checked his watch and said "It's a quarter till two".

I finally got the hearing aid function on my AirPods set up. BIG MISTAKE!!! EVERY sound was amplified: my breathing, clothes rustling, my footsteps. It drove me crazy. I was hoping, for some reason, that it would only amplify voices. My right ear has very loud ringing so I can’t hear that well. Idk if I didn’t have them set right. But I am NOT in a hurry for hearing aids.

I understand now why my Dad didn’t like wearing his.

That has been my experience. I bought a set of inexpensive hearing aids just to try them out. They are amplifiers and not tuned to my specific hearing loss. I can hear the conversations on the TV now! I will be getting better hearing aids this winter but they're not cheap

Not hearing my wife, or pretending to not, that’s a pretty good thing about hearing loss.

Yep, and after a case of shingle that manifested around my left ear and the left side of my neck, it cranked my left ear's tinnitus up to 11

Only takes a window a/c and a box fan by my head to go to sleep.

Also have the ceiling fan on for a breeze. Not for noise.

When my audiologist announced the results of my hearing test to my wife and I he said all my hearing loss is in the high end and that would make it difficult, as an example, to hear women voices.

She glared at me…. I just sat there and 😁

The vision problems are worse. I don't miss hearing what most people have to say anyway.
