And didn't put it down.
Of course now I have to figure it out....hint hint
I know it's not 6.5 or 8 and measured 7mm by my calipers.
So probably 7x57.
I haven't taken the stock off yet but this one number is all I see on the topside

The stock has cracks....several
But really a nice custom one so I'll have to address that aspect.

Yeah a bit disappointing
I'm really hoping there are markings on the underside to help figure it out.

Damn! Ok, I need a full length pic of that one. Not angled like you do. Lay that rifle on the ground, turn your phone sideways and get a diagonal full length pic of it. Butt in the bottom left corner and muzzle in the top right. Sad that I had to tell you how to take pics. But, this one I actually want to see. Haha!

I know post war Germany was a tough place to try to eat. Some FINE rifles came back to the states in the years right after the war. German gunsmiths were just trying to eat and GI’s had cash… I’m betting it’s one of those… the star motif…..

See double triggers!
[/quote]
See single trigger
The stock has a lot of taper.
It Feels pretty comfortable to pull into the shoulder.

Have you tried pushing forward on the trigger?
I bought a Timney single set trigger for my 98 and I can feel it click when I push it forward and it changes the trigger on mine from (my estimation) from about 4 lbs to about 1.5 lbs.

Just tried no such luck.
I don't think they had two stage triggers way back then but that's exactly what it feels like
