Winchester single shot.

Most of you know my affinity for single shot rifles especially the Winchester 1885. This one happens to be a Uberti copy of the 1885 chambered in 32-20. Oh man this is a sweet little rifle. I can’t wait to shoot this one Thursday with Sako. These Uberti’s are great little rifles even though that don’t fully cock on close. Range report to follow

Thank you!! It’s going to have a Lyman #2 tang sight and a Lyman 17a front globe installed in time for the range session. Man Uberti makes a heck of a low wall!!

I don’t drink enough Koolaid to get into the obscure cartridges. But, I love nice rifles.

Thanks! Was a time when a 32-20 was a deer rifle. With a 100 grain JHP going 1800fps I would take an antelope at a reasonable range. It was the “one gun, do all” for people eating what they shot back at the turn of the century past.

Obscure? It’s bees around longer than most of the new fangled cartridges you shoot. I wonder where the 6 arc will be in 130 years…

Yes. It’s obscure. Look over your cup of Koolaid. And that’s perfectly fine!!! Keep it alive!! On life support. I’m cool with that. Just not my rabbit hole.
What will be alive in 30 yrs? Hell, I’ll be dead by then. Don’t care. I’ll shoot what’s available until then.

Whimsy until Your hearts content. Just don’t feel like you’re a a philanthropist. History has its own design. You won’t earn brownie points. You’ll die like everyone else. And with your pet cartridge…….be forgotten.
Have fun. Enjoy. You aren’t special. And no are any of us.

I completely support projects and desires. Happiness and drive.
But, the current crop is destined to forget history. Sadly so.

I’ll shoot it, it will make me smile when I do. I’ll pass that along to my nephew, he’s starting to see the “cool” factor in all my “old guns “

I was thrilled when he called and wanted my opinion of a 1958 Winchester 94 he found. He wants to hunt with it this year. Good stuff

That's a fine rifle and it looks perfect. I wonder if they make it in .22 Hornet. No, I don't wonder; I can't afford to wonder.

That's beautiful and I'd love to own damn near any rifle in 32-20. I've always had a weird fascination with it and only owned a blued Colt revolver that I got for a steal (posted on it either here or the old forum a while ago.) Thats gonna be a hoot at the range and you're right about its history. It was used for everything from small to even large-ish game.
