Tom and I decided to run up to a state park not more than 30’or so min from the house. The Middle unit of Cherokee Park. There is a nice little trail that goes to the back side of the park that some pretty country. Well as it would go the “fun” part of the road was closed with a temporary buck fence so we parked the Jeep and staples on day packs and side arms and went for a nice stroll. We went for a 3 mile round trip woke down the road enjoying the view. Then find some cool stuff. We saw an Abert’s Squirrel, a marmot and a blooming barrel head cactus. Some damn rare things around here.. except the marmot. After some great Blue Angel coffee we drove to the other side of the park where the open road was, well, a bit rough. It was a hell of a lot rougher than the closed portion, who knows. We did some 4 low rock crawling some spectacular views and we head home. On the way out we got the biggest treat! We saw 3 Bighorn sheep!! They were hanging out at about 7000 feet seems low but what do I know. Well here are some photos of our outing. Good times, we have the sunburns and sore muscles to prove it. Oh the picture of the squirrel is not mine that little basted was fast!

Great time. Nice little hike that reminded me how out of shape I got over winter. The four wheeling was a treat. It's been a while since I personally have owned a vehicle capable of such things so Andy trashing his a little was great fun.

That thing was FAST! I’ve been wanting to shoot a dinner size batch, but those suckers are cagey! Mountain squirrels are food for everything.

It the first time I’ve seen sheep there, I’ve seen them further south but not there.
We have a great coffee supplier!
