Oh man! The Medicine Bow National forest is almost magical. It’s an amazing place to share with amazing people. That is one of my “happy places.” The confluence of Jim creek and the Middle fork of the Little Laramie River is a special place! It got down to about 33 degrees and the wind was howling! Sleet, snow and rain all night oh spring time in the Rockies! Oh if you’re ever in Laramie you have to hit the West Laramie Fly store

Oh, by the way our camp sight was at 9700 feet above sea level!

Great time in spite of the sometimes unbearably cold wind. Lots of good conversation with good folks around a campfire. Life doesn't get much better than that. As is the usual, I didn't get much in the way of pics but the others have covered it pretty well.

What he’s not saying is Sako is a great camp chef! Makes a mean mountain burger!

Wind was strong enough to blow trees over, someone has the pictures of the one that blew over the road!

And we still moved it off the road by hand….. so the bad ass “I need Mo Java” could pass without getting wet

We did manage to get some shooting in. Enzo brought his Marlin 22 and I brought my 1887, strictly as a camp protector. Our targets were those cute little ducks that Zee loves so much! We shot my 1887 Cimarron 12 ga too. I think at least one guy wants one now.

I'm not so sure if I could have so I'm glad we moved it. Somebody has to carry all the stuff you can't fit in a jeep

Great folks sharing Good Times. Is that weather normal for this time of year?

That the truth! Then again if you go off-road in a Cadillac, is it glamping?!?!?!? In any case our friend Tom does use his toys

Apparently… but I’ll let the “locals” go into details.

Late May is still a bit “early” to be that high up. The day time highs are in the 60-70’s and the lows are around 30-40. There is still a significant amount of snow up there so at night or in the shade it a bit cool and strong winds and it gets cold. You have to STAY DRY and layer up, but other than that it’s a great time to be in the hills.
Essentially day = early spring everywhere else
Night= winter

Funny I went to the top of the mountain again today and stopped at the lookout. 55° and no wind. Had the place to myself

Same exact spot on July 1st a few years ago. A month can make a huge difference.

Same spot June 19, 2020…..
That day I was the only one on the mountain. I didn’t see another person until I hit Laramie.
Note there is still snow…..

Yes it has. You gotta have several ways to make coffee.
