It has been a pretty crappy past few months

Now that it looks like it’s mostly over, I can share some of the crap that has been going on.
Back in January, my Mother-in-law passed away unexpectedly. My wife and her brother were the ones who made the discovery, and got to deal with that trauma. The day I returned from my bereavement leave, my employer decided it would be a good idea to lay me off (I won’t mention the name here, because they have more lawyers than I have friends. But if you are ever looking for enterprise automation software, call center, call recording software, etc… I’ll tell you who you shouldn’t use). In the following months, I got to deal with:
-planning a funeral when the City of Austin Medical Examiner could not finish an autopsy in under 5 weeks.
-more family drama on my side.
-Helping deal with lawyers, accounts, insurance, etc… that you get to do as executor of an estate,
-one of my best friends dying and all the crap around that.
-taking care of 2 houses
-both ACs going out on the mother in law’s house at the beginning of the heatwave,
-having to apply, interview, and all the related job search BS while going on long planned family vacation
-All the general job search BS
And now we are moving to the MIL’s house while contractors are here fixing things, and selling the old house while I am on boarding with the job I started this past Monday.
Not saying this for any sympathy (well, maybe a bit. Let’s call it commiseration to make it more acceptable) but more an explanation as to why I started this forum. When the G&A forum was shutting down, I figured this was one crap thing going on that I could solve and make right.
Anyway. Started a now job this week and all signs show it being an awesome place. My bosses seem super cool and the products and customers are things I can believe in.
