It's pay day and time to replace the trigger on my Remington 700. There are two choices, Timney or Basix. The Basix is $25 cheaper and more adjustable. I' familiar with Timney. Would I be able to tell the difference between the two?

Which models are you looking at?

I have several Timney models and like them all for their intended purpose.
I have one Rifle Basix and it’s not my favorite. Older model, so things may have improved. Don’t know.

Do you like a wide or thin trigger shoe?

I have both...no complaints about either

I prefer wide. This is my second choice hunting rifle. Remington 700 chambered in 280. It is bedded, barrel floated and shoots sub MOA with hand loads. It wears a 4x12 Leopold and I planned to take it to the blinds this year. If I'm still hunting, I prefer my Savage 99f in 308 that wears a 2x7 Leupold.

Timney is your choice then. I’m able to adjust the Timney Elite Hunter down to 1-1.5lbs, if that’s something you’d like to be able to do. Just follow the directions for adjustment. Takes about 5 minutes.

Wow, I didn't realize it's been that long. I did my research and took Zee's advice, I bought the Timney Elite Hunter. It only took a couple of minutes to install, and I adjusted it to 2.5 lbs. I had one minor problem, the trigger is too thick for the trigger guard. It took more time to file the trigger guard than it did to install the trigger. I don't remember who stated in another post to use a magic marker, but the trick worked on the shave area of the trigger guard! You couldn't see the filed area unless you were looking into the bottom of the gun. I didn't expect this problem, and didn't have alumahide. I'd dare you to find my jury-rig. I'll get some Alumahide latter when I do some touch-up work on a BL22.

This is a really nice trigger, no take-up creep or over travel. only the trigger pull needed to be adjusted.
