Jimmy Buffet headed to a Labor Day weekend show in heaven

Just read where Jimmy Buffet passed away from a year long illness. Seen him many times in concert. He'll be missed for sure, though his music will live on! He was 76 RIP!

One of the best concerts I ever attended and a staple of my boating life. Thanks for the good times and see you in Margaritaville…. RIP

He and a former governor founded the Save the Manatee Club, a highly effective and influential lobbying group.
He supported Mote Marine Institute and the Gulf Specimen Marine Lab.
Did numerous concerts for hurricane victims.
Came up with his own sub-genre of music.
Obtained a seaplane pilot's license so he could fish remote areas.
Got detained by NASA security for fishing in restricted areas prior to John Glenn's space shuttle flight. He was there as a correspondent for Rolling Stone.
Known for boating up to random people and giving them beer or margaritas.
Known as an all-around decent human being.

Most of his songs aren't my first choice, but any all around good dude lost from this earth is a loss for us all.

Living in Florida you hear A LOT of his music. His more popular stuff borders on cliche, but when you consider he invented the cliche, it's actually impressive.
