Trump and the 14th Amendment

Heard that some folks are trying to have Trump barred from the 2024 election under the 14th Amendment, and whatever court is supposed to rule by 10/09
No matter your opinion of Trump, do you see this causing a big problem??
I can see the possibility, though I hope and pray it doesn't.
Thoughts?

If it does, it’ll at least prevent the willfully ignorant/stupid/inbred/mouth breathers etc from voting for him.
So that’s a positive.
Any political figure who would WILLFULLY deny constitutional rights WITHOUT due process can fudge off, and fudge themselves. Which he is in favor of. So, the above applies.
And his former bitch Pence can fudge off also.

Excuse me, Pence upheld the constitution when he ratified the election.

Quote, by Cheeto Jesus:
“Or, Mike, take the firearms first and then go to court, because that’s another system. Because a lot of times, by the time you go to court, it takes so long to go to court, to get the due process procedures. I like taking the guns early. Like in this crazy man’s case that just took place in Florida, he had a lot of firearms – they saw everything – to go to court would have taken a long time, so you could do exactly what you’re saying, but take the guns first, go through due process second.”
In case you want to watch him say it:

So just because I’m against out of control politicians who are in favor of throwing out the rule of law and that pesky constitution and don’t get on my knees for Trump, that doesn’t make me a socialist.

Too many people are willing to settle for "better than the other guy," and not for a person that actually upholds the constitution and laws. No offense to ALL of them but boomers are terrified of change so they stick to what's familiar and that's why our country is going down the crapper.

I accept and appreciate that response CJP as to this point in the USA you are entitled to it but aren’t the liberals/rinos/socialists/globalists/Obama/Soros/McConnells/Pelosi et all types doing their best to eradicate that pesky constitution? And who is on their knees to assist and abide. Not me, ever.

So since the “other side” is doing it, it’s ok ?
Gotcha.

Cool. So now we have come full circle back to FDT, and I’m not a socialist?

I'm in my early 60's and have voted for president (and most elections I was allowed to) every time. Does that make me a boomer?
Anyhow, other than maybe Ronald Reagan, I pretty much held my nose when I voted because I thought the person I was voting for would screw things up less than the other one.
When it's a given that one of the 2 will win, what else you going to do? I did deviate when I voted for Ross Perot. I could'a just stayed home.

CPJ, If it comes down to voting for Trump or Biden or not voting at all, what are you going to do?
In 2020 I held my nose and voted for the less of 2 evils, It was that or not vote at all.
You?

I’ll vote for Deez Nutz.
When a candidate specifically says that he will, I repeat WILL violate your constitutional rights, I refuse to vote for that tyrannical piece of poop. If they are already in favor of violating the second and the fourth, how long before it’s the first? Or the others? They can go fudge themselves. I don’t give two poop about the letter behind the name.
And voting for the lesser of two evils is the reason our only choices are evil. We have done it to ourselves. And I’m simply tired of doing it.

I guess we look at it differently.
I rarely thought about it as voting FOR someone.
I was just trying to keep the bigger ass out of office.
I do feel that anyone who voted is more entitled to grouse about the current situation.

I used to think “don’t bitch if you didn’t vote.” Not so much now.
I’d wager those uttering that statement really mean, “don’t bitch if you didn’t vote for either D or R, and I really don’t think you should bitch unless you voted for who I voted for.”
Because if someone said “I voted libertarian” , I’d wager the response would be “you shouldn’t bitch because you voted for someone who had zero chance of winning.”
I’ll take my chances with Captain Poopy Pants and a “republican” house and congress. Which tends to happen with a democrat potus.

The last time we had a Republican house, senate, and POTUS, we got national concealed carry reciprocity passed, the hearing protection act passed, the NFA repealed, and the ATF dissolved.
Nah, we got none of that. The Republicans in Congress waited until after the control of the house went to the Dems (and the bills wouldn't even make it out of committee) to introduce the legislation, saying, "Ah, shucks, we tried, but those nasty Dems won't let our bills see the light of day!"
Nevermind the same folks were touting they had the legislation in hand and ready to submit within the first month of the Republican majority. Some of them even ran on the platform of introducing it when Trump was first elected.

The awkward truth here is that we have a structure of primary elections that ends up giving us those evils. In theory, this allows cream to rise to the top, but if DJT and FJB are any indication we get the poop that refuses to flush.
Television is probably the ultimate culprit. Ever since JFK, it's been more about looking and sounding good, and the sad statement is that our culture has a voting majority of folks that fall for it. Remarkably, a government that promises to stop at keeping cholera out of the water and the barbarian hordes on the far side of the border is not attractive to many.
We have bomb shelters and storm shelters. I think I need to design and patent a stupid shelter.

I think one of the other issues is a lack of diversity in the primary fields, which is probably fed by low-information voters who latch on to certain phrases and rally against/for them, not know what they mean, whether it's really a problem, or other issues.
It's frustrating to me to try and research a candidate and find that their website and social media are full of:
A. What they're against, not necessarily what they're for.
B. Vague references to what they're going to do, but no mention of how.
C. Buzzwords that have no real meaning (Looking at you, folks who tell me you're going to protect my "God-Given Rights" without giving examples.)
D. Have more space taken up by where and how to donate vs. how they're going to serve the people.
With options like that, there's really no cream entering into politics. Or at least not advancing.
Also, folks have lost the ability to listen to complex ideas and respond to nuance. It's why, I think, candidates who offer complex answers to complex questions get derided for talking too much versus those who provide simple answers to complex questions.

You are very right.
Phrases like:
Lower taxes
Cancel student debt
Keep schools safe
Save children
Free healthcare
They sound great, but in reality are impossible to do without canceling another. Nothing is free
