My folks came down last week and dad threw a surprise on for me. He brought a Sears supreme 30-06 Mauser for me. This is a cool old rifle! Thanks dad! He had a newish weaver on it that he wanted, I just happen to have a leupold 6x gloss to mount on it. I really like the setup!

The Sears growing up in Wyoming was a small room with several catalogs and a couple employees!

I honestly don't recall if it was my early years in Colorado or Illinois but the Sears and the Wards for that matter, had nice long rectangular displays.
Plenty to keep me busy while my mom shopped elsewhere in the store.

That was the Coast to Coast in downtown Gillette! They had a proper gun counter upstairs and a toy department downstairs…. Oh man!

Shouldn’t be too hard to lop off the fore end tip, grind down the grip cap and knock off the cheek piece. 👍

It still amazes me that these guns were “working man” rifles… 👍

I just took its distant cousin to the range today. I have a Zastava M70 in 7mm-08. It wouldnt surprise me if it was made on the same tooling as your .30-06.

Very nice!
I remember seeing one of those or similar many years ago in the Midwest. I think FN made a Sears rifle built with a Mauser action. If so it would have a made in Belgium on the barrel.

That is really nice. Just ignore cpj we know he has poor taste, just look at his choice of wine.

That wood is gorgeous! That is a great rifle. There were a number of companies that made Mauser rifles for Sears, including Heckler and Kock, and FN. My friend has an H&K.

Te recoil pad looks out of place, is it original?

That seems a waste of time. Just buy a plastic stock and throw the wood on the fire.

We had a small Monkey Wards in our small town. Not many guns there but what pulled me in was the big Western knife display. Really wanted that hatchet knife combo.....
