Hunting with an old friend

I've been hunting a reclaimed strip mine. There are deep ravines, woods on steep hills and very large fields of rag weed and brush. I haven't seen a deer on my trail cam for over two weeks. I'm not sure where they've gone, but the weather here in SW Pa has been very mild. My friend has been sitting in the Castle in the evenings and all day today without seeing a deer. I'm going to try something tomorrow that I haven't done in years, I'll hunt with my 94 Winchester! I will be working the brush fields and conduct a one-man drive to try to get some deer moving. If I don't locate deer there, I may head for the woods. I thought of carrying my S&W Mountain gun or Ruger 357 but have decided to go as light as possible as I'll be walking all day. It will sure be nice to carry the 94 again. The last time I carried it was at least 12 years ago, I was standing against a small pine sapling and a twig was between the hammer and firing pin when I pulled the trigger to get a buck.
The 94 Win was my first rifle, and I worked all summer to buy it when I was 14. Even though my old eyes won't work well with it, I sure hope I have a chance to make her bark again. My Savage 99 with a scope will stay behind this time as I expect quick short shots.
Is there a firearm in your cabinet you have been ignoring?
