Pistol Rest?

What are y'all using for a pistol rest? I've got a cheap plastic rig that does OK but it's not very stable or comfortable. Sometimes I'll use a smaller rifle rest for the front and wood blocks on the rear depending on what I'm shooting.
Primary use for me is just sighting in new or modified stuff and seeing how it groups.

For the red dots at work, I'm pretty ghetto:
Soft rifle bag turned sideways so the "trench" for a rifle's forend is perpendicular to the pistol's barrel. Usually prefer to have a light on the gun and rest it on that. Whole works goes on top of a 3' tall step ladder and I shoot kneeling.
If I'm more serious, It's usually an adjustable rifle benchrest with towels or cardboard strategically placed to protect against cylinder gap flame cutting. Adjust the whole works to support the barrel and place a sandbag under the bottom of the grip.

I pretty much use sandbags for most of the guns, wresting my wrists on the bag. Only exception is the CVA single shot .243. That uses a bipod.

I use one made by Shot’s Gunsmithing. Love the rest. Unfortunately, he retired.
