Year end special...BSA Martini mkiii international + unertl

It was just too good a buy not to at least try.....and I do want to try

The scope is an unertl 15x ultra varmint
I told the owner the scope alone was worth that much.
He didn't care.....so I scraped and scrounged up ejough to go for the free ride.
I didn't realize the price included the original Parker Hale sights and some ammo it likes.

It should it took a little while to scrounge up the money.
In the interim I stumbled upon their accuracy guarantee

It was .75 for 5 consecutive 10 shot groups at 100 yards with none exceeding 1"

Huge reason for picking it up.I've always wanted to try one and the opportunity never
Came up.
Getting to try a Martini is an added bonus.

I'm no benchrest shooter but it will be fun for a bit.

All that to say I don't think this will wind up in the permanent collection but who knows

Those BSA rifles are super accurate. I have a copy of the book 'The Golden Century' by John Knibbs. According to his book the UF prefix makes it a Mark II and made between 1960 and 1968 with 3,390 made. If you ever need spares he has a dealership in the U.K. This should get you to his site and onto the rifle page: https://www.airgunspares.com/shotguns-r ... ifles.html He is the expert on BSA and should be able to help with any queries. If you can source Eley 'Tenex' .22 ammo you will get even greater accuracy.

1" main tube and 2" objective? NICE! Let me know when you're ready to swap it out for a Bushnell Sportview - we can talk.

Those are stupidly sweet rifles. Get ready for a neat little "ping!" when you shoot it, and be warned. . .recoil is a bit extreme.

Yes 1" main 2" objective.

Being an impatient sort I at least wanted to see if it went bang....it did.

It's a cold, damp, Rainey day here but I improvised a quick target.
Just put it out at 30 yards.
Way too close.....all I shot at was a fuzzy blob.

First impressions were.
Cool action that does make some clicky noises.
The target needs to go out much farther.
I also think I may have gotten his favorite

Thanks it was a surprisingly good start.
I need to get through the learning curve of using this scope.
My feeling is it will group like this pretty easily at 50-75 yards probably farther with someone else behind it.

I'll really try to ring it out at some point

I use my 28.75 Ultra Lux when I'm having trouble with a CF from the bench.
Subsonic ammo in that LOOOOOOONG barrel will FORCE you to have proper follow through.

You get good with that one from the bench and I won't be surprised if you find you're shooting CFs better from the bench too

Great! Now strap on a leather straight-jacket from the looney bin, get down in a braced kneeling position with it, and stay there for about 40 minutes.

Games of the young. . .it's not every smallbore rifle that can make a Winchester 52 seem light.

It was sunny and warm for winter here also not windy so I decided to dial the scope in some.
Took a swag at scope adjustment before the first shot and it was a good one.
Started with some golf balls at 50 yards they were easy.

Then pieces of clay targets....eventually one landed a smidgen high.
Click Click down and I was done.
1 miss in the box.

The gun is just stupid easy to hit with.
I had really intended to wait until spring to see just what it will do.
I don't think it wants to wait.

It wants to be.
I have 2 other target 22's this could easily replace.
It just seems that good right now.

Great guns tend to shoot! Yeah 22’s are fun to shoot bug targets
