Ordered an anodizing blem Aero Precision Solus Chassis on Black Friday for $300 off regular price! Finally delivered yesterday. Mounted it on my current primary Predator/Pig rifle which is a custom .243 Win.

I’ll paint it in the spring when it’s not cold and I can cure the Brownells Aluma-Hyde II epoxy paint.

The “antiquated” AICS has been my mainstay chassis since the early 2000’s. But, this one is wicked nice. May have to get another when they have more blems.

What chassis are you guys running and like? Post Pics?

I’m anxious to try it.
The AICS… it’s obviously a quality piece, but it wasn’t all that to me. Seemed way too plasticy for what it costs.

Does it make the gun lighter? I got to really like that .243, almost accidentally put it in my case

Also curious if you have a weight of that whole setup? I definitely like the looks of it.

Interesting setup! It looks solid. I got rid of my one chassis gun years ago (Savage 10 Ashbury Precision) because it was heavy and awkward, but the more recent crop has me curious again. I may toss my Tikka T3x CTR or one of my Remington 700's into a chassis for giggles once I'm up and running at the next job.

It ain’t a light chassis. Hell, it’s all aluminum! And, I ordered the 17” Forend! Which means…….even more metal! So no, it’s not a lightweight.

It was revolutionary at the time. But, even Accuracy International has ditched it for more modern designs and………..ARCA.

I do not. Weight is not an issue that concerns me for the means and purpose of the platform. Hell, I’m attaching carbon fiber tripod to it and stalking across fields in search of prey. It ain’t a mountain stalker. For what I do……weight is your friend.

They even have accessory weights designed to attach to the stock to add more……weight!

It’s a PRC Chassis.

Noted. On the last one I had, the balance was of more concern than the weight. It used an AR butt stock set up with a standard MagPul CTR, so no metal in the back to balance out the rest of the rifle's weight. Something like yours looks like it would be balanced better.

That's not a deal breaker since I like to sit at a bench when I shoot.

This is a positional shooting chassis that I’m sure will double on the bench. Designed to shoot off tripods and reduce muzzle rise and felt recoil (can add optional and additional weights where needed), the flat Forend will also ride a bench rest or positional bag well. On to of that, the buttstock is very adjustable for personal preference.
I like a shorter than normal LoP when doing alternate position shooting.

I'm working on a bipod setup for use with heavy recoiling rifles, mainly because my buddy wants to use it for his 416 Ruger with 500 grain A tips and it's not pleasant to shoot. It's a brain child between the both of us that he's going to pay to have patented and I can't wait to show you all once it's complete. It would be perfect on that chassis. I like your setup btw. It's not "over done."

You've got me thinking about some of my existing rifles that would transition to a chassis and benefit from it.

You asked for photos...

I have to admit that when those types of stocks came out my immediate response was “not for me”. I’m now rethinking the whole thing. Looks like LOP is an easy/fast adjustment, yes.

An oddball idea is a Winchester model 70 varmint barrel chambered in .222 Rem. I have two of them, identical. They are the heavy barrel variant with the HS Precision stock and I doubt there are too many model 70 chassis options anyway. I should probably just sell one and reinvest funds rather than mess with a great rifle.

In the Rem700 category, I have a .17 Rem and a 22-250 both currently sitting in the older (nice) Remington fiberglass stocks.

Also have a Ruger M77 in 22PPC that would do well in some sort of chassis but again I doubt there are many options for the M77.

All of these rifles are tack drivers so I doubt much accuracy improvement would be realized.

It's a .17HMR. In hindsight, I should have bought the .22LR but the .17 is fun to play with at 150-200 yards. That said, I do like the rifle for the $. Of course it has some of the same drawbacks as the centerfire RPR, but they are less pronounced in the rimfire. Bolt took some cycles to smooth out (it's a Ruger...).

Fishhead has one of the RPR in .22 mag and it's a tac driver. I keep waiting for him to leave it laying against something, but he is careful with it when I'm around.
