As far as I'm concerned, the UN can go pound sand.

The UN can go pound sand, but I think there's better ways to accomplish this than what is being planned.

Me too.

A 12 gauge slug to the head is only a few bucks. And it would be instant.

It does't matter what method is used, there is always a group that will be against it.

Name some. And what's wrong or inhumane about oxygen depravation?

This has been in the works for a while. Multiple groups have tried to prevent it since it had never been done before and might not go as planned. There have been several delays over the last few years in an attempt.

A rope's not much more, and is reusable. Same with a sharp blade (guillotine)

I'm fairly certain it's similar in other states with the death penalty, but not positive, that when you are sentenced to death it automatically triggers an appeal. I'm okay with that. HOWEVER, I feel that after the mandatory appeal, unless you have new evidence/witness(es) etc, have a maximum of 1 year between end of appeal and carrying it out, and eliminate the appeals based on "Officer Smith misspelled this, or forgot to cross the "t" in this word or dot the "i" here"
If it's not something proving innocence, you did the crime, sucks to be you.

Seems simple to take a volunteer and try it on them until they pass out. Resuscitate them and ask how it was. No pain or panic, then game on.

As anyone that has ever qualified for flight in an altitude chamber knows it wouldn't be a bad way to die, as the O2 de-creases you get tired, sleepy, you would pass out and eventually die, there is no pain, might just be the most humane means of execution .

This reminds me of being effected by nitrogen narcosis while diving once. kneeling on the bottom Watching the rays soar by I pointed at them thinking "pretty" as I about fell over backwards.
This form of execution will be like a last high or drunk. Not so bad really.

On paper it seems as though it would be painless. I'm guessing sedation will be involved. A tight fitting mask applied and the condemned would probably begin breathing room air. The oxygen over time is decreased and replaced with nitrogen where I expect you drift off to sleep as CO2 builds in your blood stream. It would seem a rather peaceful way to die.

Actually, I don't think co2 would build up in your system because that's what causes the hypoxic response. I'm guessing it would just turn into sleepy time. What's always amazed me is the people that they put off killing because the prisons can't get the 3 drug cocktail for lethal injection but we have millions of pounds of seized fentanyl. From an ex drug addict, I know for a fact that a drug overdose is not cruel and unusual.

An additional advantage is that they can't play the "Your euthanasia drugs are past their expiration date!' game. Lead is the final state of radioactive decay for radioactive elements - once it decays to lead, it is lead FOREVER. It is also recyclable; "Not only did we use the same shotgun on the last 11 guys, we used the same ounce and a quarter."

But as for the method of nitrogen saturation, the sentencing judge could tell the convicted to "Get Bent"

HA
Not bent, but Rapture of the Deep before going night night for sure
It would actually be a pleasant way to go

Not sure about the nitrogen narcosis similarity. Narcosis generally sets in at a depth of 100 ft. or greater, which has a total ambient pressure of about 4 atmospheres. Dusting off old SCUBA memories, the pressure of an individual gas in a mixed gas is basically total pressure x gas percentage. Nitrogen's 78% of air, so 4x.78 = 3.12, so I would guess that you'd need an atmospheric pressure north of 3 ATM to induce narcosis. Not sure it's induced at sea levelish breathing 100% Nitrogen.

You seem to be channeling the late Sam. The bottom line is nitrogen replaces the oxygen in your body, you get sleepy, and die.

More just pointing out that you don't get the narcotic effect. I get you get sleepy and die.

Nitrogen asphyxiation is nothing new. Unconsciousness is achieved in as little as one or two breaths. The body does not go into a reaction as it is used to breathing it. The body also atemtps to fully exchange the free oxygen in the blood for new, because it does not recognize the danger. It is currently used in some of the assisted suicide tech in the world. It is probably the most humane and cheapest way to go about it. Anyone that has worked with nitrogen should know the danger. Purging an HVAC system in an enclosed space is more dangerous than some might know.

How about crucifixion?

More seriously, a guillotine or lethal injection would be my choice.

The problem with lethal injection is the need to establish an IV, this guy was obese (problem 1) and had purposely quit drinking water a day or two before his previous attempt, which was by lethal injection, and was dehydrated (problem 2). They were unable to establish an IV on him by the time his "death warrant" expired leading to his "failed attempt" you keep hearing about.
The current lack of availability of the drugs used is also a problem (3)
