This is a spin off of the "what do you want to see from SHOT" thread, but a little more off the wall. What guns would you like to see made, that you don't think have a reasonable chance of actually materializing due to cost, popularity, etc?

For me personally, I would like to see the 1885 High Wall pattern brought out by someone in basically a modernized configuration:

- Modern bottle neck cartridges (.308 family, .30-06 family, magnums). Browning did this in the 90's up to 300 WM so it can be done.
- Stainless steel or Cerakoted metal
- Laminated wood or synthetic furniture with a more vertical pistol grip
- Round barrel w/ threaded muzzle
- Picatinny (sp?) scope mount
- Maybe some sort of half cock lever is in order, or a simple cross bolt safety. I'm sure the half cock feature in lieu of a safety might be troublesome for cold hands, or perhaps lawyers.

Bonus points if it has various barrel lengths on the long and short end (IE 28" but a 20-22" available for suppressing). With how well the Browning guns shot, the relative light weight, and the ability to have a longer barrel with shorter OAL, I think this would work out as a dandy hunting gun personally.

The other one was mentioned on the other thread, but I think Ruger might have a market for a Ruger American based specialty pistol.

A modern Highwall would be cool, Ruger makes one. I would love to see more falling blocks.

Only in limited runs these days and from what I remember they have always been very hit or miss on accuracy.

EDIT- Also the "modernized" configuration I want is pretty specific to actually taking it out west and hunting, accommodating a brake or can, etc.

Ruger #1’s are a gamble for accuracy for sure….

Re-issue of the Savage 99 Takedown in modern calibers-.308, 243, 6.5, etc…

Personally I’d love to see a 1885 a stock item, not just a “meh, whatever we want” gun…..

As long as we're wish-listing new production single shots:
My BSA Cadet was a Frankengun when I got it, and I enhanced it further with a PH7 match rear sight and Lyman 17 front.

It shoots a .32-20 blown out to take a larger bullet that fits the original .310 Cadet bore, which took some head-scratching to achieve. If it didn't shoot so damn well, the barrel would be off and it would be shooting .357 Magnum.

But it's crazy light and fun. Bring 'em back with modern sights & optic options in .22LR and .357 Mag.

If we are entertaining single shots- bring back the H&R/NEF line, and have a custom shop that will chamber the replacement barrels in weird and out of production rounds.

Oh, and a 3” barrel 6 shot stainless/ coated revolver with an optic mount that is NOT made by Taurus.

Both good suggestions. I would be all over a NEF in a hunting chambering these days, see aforementioned "modern" specs such as threaded muzzle and vertical pistol grip stock. I would snatch one right up as a backup/loaner gun.

Also good one on the revolver, Ruger is really missing the boat not doing this with the GP-100.

CVA is on board but, they don’t chamber the damn .308 Win!!

The Ruger No. 3 would be another good one for what I've got in mind: smaller, lighter, and with less artsy-fartsy sex appeal than the No.1.

Even better would be more options in 1885 Hi Walls and Low Walls made WITHOUT the G-D, M@#%&*()ING lawyerized default to half cock when the action is closed. If I want the hammer down after I chamber a round, I can lower it my own damn self. . . or buy a Sharps. NOTE TO THE ITALIANS: I sent one back and got a refund because of this.

As someone that used to have a Cadet with a .22 conversion breech block in it when I was much younger, it was a lot of fun to shoot. My first rifle was a Cadet in .22LR that my dad built for me. I shot that thing until I had outgrown the stock by a few years. Hopefully in the near future I will find out how enjoyable it is to shoot a Cadet in .357 mag since it now has adult sized stocks on it and a repurposed .358 barrel. That project only started about 25 years ago.... No scope on it anymore though. Cadet rear sight with a Williams fire sight blade on the front.

An American manufacturer who could manage to make Winchester model level action rifle clones and sell them at the price point the Italians do

Personally I’d love to see Winchester sell the damn company to someone that could actually run it efficiently.

I’d like to see a resurgence in interest in the Ruger number 1 and a host of chamberings.

I like the #1, but for what they sell for I have to pass. Last time I came across one on a rack it was a beat up used one and they wanted $1500 for it. It was a .308 if I recall correctly and so trashed that all it was worth to me was the action.

I want to see a Glock 50GI in a compact for under $500 bucks!
