Managed to get together with SS3 while he landed in Vegas for a few days. The weather was kind’a nasty today. cold, stupid windy and some rain, a little snow and even a little hail. But we’re not daisies so him and his buddy Jon met me at BPS and went off to the Pioneer Saloon for some burgers, some off-roading through some beautiful country and a little lead slinging

It was a great afternoon and next time I hope he can stay longer and that my new home is in shape for entertaining. We just moved in and all I have to sit on is boxes. But there are cigars and whiskey to be consumed on his next visit. Hope to see Jon again too. He was a really nice guy and I think we share a hobby or two in common

That kid still looks the same as when I met him probably 15 years ago!

I’m somewhat impressed with the LT tires that came with the Jeep. I’m trying hard to trash them so I can justify new 33” ATs but damn thy are hanging in there, and while I’m not rock crawling I’m driving a lot on rough gravel and stone and they are doing their part.

Jon’s Tacoma did very well as expected. The trail was not super crazy but also not as easy as I thought it was going to be or the pics show. The more challenging parts required two hands on the wheel so no pics. This was a lot steeper than what the picture shows. SS3 took the pic and he was my ground spotter.

I remember when SS3 was a young lad going to Military school. Never met a forum member that wasn't a good guy

We talked about that today. Amazing we’ve known him since he was just a little kid!!! Very proud of this young man

All my meets have been exceedingly positive experiences and I have some longtime friends here I’ve never shaken hands with. Will remedy this in the coming years.

We watched 3 grow up here, while the rest of us got old!!

Don’t know that it would have the clearance for a few of the tougher sections.

TBH it probably would have been fine. There were a few sections where the approach and departure angles would have been a challenge but you could probably get creative and find a line. I spend a long time hitting pretty tough trails in an old 4x2 Nissan Frontier that had maybe 6" of ground clearance, and learning where to put the tires can get you a long way.

I still hate that car though.

The worst part of the car is having to wear the Birkenstocks.

I have been getting a lot more attention from overweight women with buzz cuts since I started driving this pile...

Funny story…

The girl that used to cut my wife’s hair is an absolutely drop-dead gorgeous 30 something, funny, intelligent, very successful and we became hit it off and became good friends (still pisses my wife off that I got MY haircuts for free from her ).

On one occasion she told me she was buying a new car and I asked what was she buying and she says “Subaru”…..

There is an interested moment of silence and I said to her, “So let me get this righ. You are gay, vegan AND soon to be driving a Subaru? Sorry, you’re just a walking cliche…”. She laughed quite loud, agreed with me, and next week she bought a new Audi
