AimPoint ACRO 3.5 MOA RDS
AimPoint ACRO 3.5 MOA RDS
I have two of them now! Put the new one on my G19 a month ago and sighted it in for 25yrds.
Had to swap my previous one to a different slide for my G47 and swap the tall irons as well. Did that this weekend and sighted it back in for 35 yrds today. Then confirmed Mechanical Offset at 7 yrds.
From someone who used to be give or take on pistol mounted RDS……I’m officially a convert.
I do prefer the ACRO to the RMR style and prefer a small dot to a larger MOA Dot. Personal preference, I know.
Takes some retraining of the brain, but once you got it……sweet.

Also installed some grip decals on my G47! MUCH better!!

Re: AimPoint ACRO 3.5 MOA RDS
Back before it was a “thing”, I used to cut up skate board tape and put it on my guns. It would last awhile and then start peeling off. Now that they have specific sized decals, it’s so much easier than I used to do it.
Will probably add them to other guns now.

It's been "a thing" since Gen 1 G19's
Glock actually sold them. My G19 still has the ones that were one it when I traded for it

On a side note: I have discovered that in refining my draw and presentation for use of the RDS……I have subsequently improved my presentation with iron sights.
Instead of utilizing peripheral sight to aid in lining up the irons, when I do it right, the gun presents perfectly flat and the sights are perfectly aligned. No fishing.
Wasn’t the plan to improve my iron presentation. Just a byproduct.
I’ll take it!

That’s what I’ve noticed to. I can’t find a down side to RDS use. It took me many years to listen to you about Glocks but I finally saw the light. I should have listened to SS3 soonerZee wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2024 11:23 pm On a side note: I have discovered that in refining my draw and presentation for use of the RDS……I have subsequently improved my presentation with iron sights.

I HATED IT.
Probably a combo of hating the feel of Glocks and a new sight.
Now I have two Glocks and one clone, two with RDS.

Re: AimPoint ACRO 3.5 MOA RDS
Sweet! I need to get some quality time on an ACRO. The stars just haven't aligned on that one yet, but I like the idea of combining enclosed emitters and theoretically bomb-proof. I'm interested to hear how the extended duration experience progresses.
We got in with Gen 5 17's before this 47 was a thing. They'll still be making 17's for agency sales only, but I guess only in Austria. Not sure what that's gonna do to delivery time of new ones, but I guess the only small parts change from 17 to 47 will probably be the G19 recoil spring in the new gun. We could probably integrate 47's if we had to. I do like the idea of the reinforced guide ring, though I've never had to deal with a cracked one.
I don't begrudge anyone their skateboard taped Glock, but never had the need. My palms are fine, it's the REST of me that sweats.

Re: AimPoint ACRO 3.5 MOA RDS
Question
What impact does the additional mass of a RDS mounted on the slide impact cycle reliability due to a slower cycle time? Shouldn’t a lighter recoil spring be used?

Re: AimPoint ACRO 3.5 MOA RDS
Going on 2 years without a factory spring malfunction.

Hmmmm Glocks are probably engineered to run with a pound of mud caked on the slide. A CZ shadow might behave differently.

Most MRDS weigh around an ounce. It doesn't make a difference.

I haven’t cleaned my G47 in over two years and an insane amount of rounds. Not proud of that. But, I haven’t.
Oopsie.
