Well, if my name was Marvin. But I did shoot myself in the face.

Shooting some steel at about 10 yards.
Bang, ding.
Bang, ding.
Bang, ding, fudge!
I’m very STUPID for not wearing eye protection.
And very LUCKY for catching the bullet with my nose.
It would have been a bad deal had it caught my eye hole.

I've done the same thing, shooting a steel I beam at 10 yards with a .22 pistol. Hit me in the upper thigh, got my "attention!" But my off hand hip shot was good!!

I had a buddy catch a scrap of copper jacket to his cheek, and didn’t dig it out. He finally did a couple weeks later when you could see the green of the copper corroding under his skin

Eye pro is important when shooting close steel. Some would say mandatory. I’ve been hit with spalling quite a few time. So have friends. Only takes once to screw up the rest of your life.

Yep. Just the other day I was going to test fire a gun in my barrel and was about to forgo the eye pro and thought to myself that it only takes one screw up so I grabbed them. It was kinda ironic when I saw this post because of that.

We are all supposed to be an example to others, no one ever said that it had to be a good example. I am kinda on the side of eyes and ears in most things anymore since I figured out I wasnt immortal anymore.
