GrapeApe (Paul) is in the hospital being transported to UAB Hospital for open heart surgery. They are expecting to do a quadruple or quintuple bypass on him. He’s in good spirits and as usual has a great attitude, but if you feel inclined please throw a prayer his way for him and his lovely wife Cindy. They could really use it.

Yep. Just talked to him on the phone myself - I'm not surprised based on posts he made here last week. I've said a prayer, and will say some more, and do the incense and candle thing as well.

He just met with the surgeon and he’s tentatively scheduled for Friday for surgery. They are keeping him in the hospital so no going home for now.

The waiting must be the worst part but as long as they're keeping him waiting...
At least it isn't emergency bypass surgery.

If they are waiting to Fri, then they are either idiots, or Paul isnt about to blow up, and I dont thing they are idiots. I know around here if you go anywhere near the heart folks, you are moving quick.

From what he tells me the surgery is rather complex so they are waiting for the right doctor to be available.

He hasn’t been able to log on but he sent me this text:
“Tell the guys the reason for the delay is lab work that's out of range from stuff other hosp gave me during cardiac cath. So if labs are good Friday, it's a go”
