Anyone smart with vehicle titles?

Post by Centermass »

When I sign it over, I don’t have to have it notarized, do I?

And if the ex wife is on the title and there isn’t a spot for a second owner to sign.. where does she sign?

May depend on how your names are listed. Is yours AND the ex. Or it yours OR the ex.

Bob and Sally

Bob or Sally.

Best bet is go to wherever you buy car tags and ask them.

As far as notarizing goes, that depends on the state. Used to we had to have them notarized. Now we don’t.

If it’s Bob AND Sally then she’s probably gonna have to sign.

I guess there’s a possibility that if you got possession in the divorce decree then a copy of that might suffice.

Better ask your local DMV or wherever you buy your car tags.

Each state is different. Here in MS there’s a form called “Power of Attorney to Transfer Motor Vehicle” or something like that. See if there’s something like that where the ex is and see if she’ll get one and complete it.

In PA the signatures have to be notarized. Don't know about other states.

I used to have a notary that would stamp anything I gave her.

Now I go to a car lot. They are/have notaries that know what the law is in that state.

Again, depends on the state. Just a signature needed in Alabama

Well… I had a stroke of genius…

I looked up the tag office number and called… why TF I didn’t do that first.

Edit - I now see Rugerfan mentioned that ..
