Anyone ever do a trigger job on one of these? I've got one in 22 Hornet. My buddy is a shade-tree gunsmith who is competent, and he took the thing and played with it. The trigger is now clean but heavy. He says the trigger isn't one which can be made lighter. I trust my bud, but I wonder as it's now 8 pounds or so...but clean. I've often read about triggers is "the trigger broke like a glass rod." I think this is what this one is, but if I could I'd like it to be 4 pounds.

Several years ago I cleaned up a 43 that belonged to my late father in law. Once you remove the action from the stock there is a screw bybthe magazine catch. It allows adjustment of the spring. Unfortunately one of his other children got that rifle when they divied them out

This 43 was professionally (I think) bedded. I have yet to fire it. Got factory peeps on it.

I tend to agree with your bud. When I took the adjusting screw on mine down to where the trigger pull was getting into the "nice" range, it wouldn't stay engaged with the sear on bolt closure - especially when running the action briskly as I am wont to do. I don't think I ended up with 8 pounds, but it isn't 4 either. Pretty much like yours - clean, but heavy.

A bit of Grease & graphite could lighten things up.
