Had 3 people try out....
1st guy half flooded the engine bay without turning the seacock off when cleaning the water filter despite being shown 4 times how to do it and getting written instructions. He didnt turn up on the following day....
2nd guy was keen....so keen that he couldnt follow simple instructions......despite having been given a copy of the operating plan of the boat outlining his duties and being shown over 3 charters what to do. Found out later that he has 2 steel plates in his head....told me it was when he was in forestry and his boss dropped a tree on his head....the following day the story changed to he was king hit in a bar fight....
3rd guy is a retired Russian who ran a crab/fishing boat in the Barents sea ( think deadliest catch scenario). One trip out and he was up to speed.......did 2 trips with Mark and decided that he didnt want to do it full time as 1. the work was too hard and 2. he didnt want to work every weekend. Will keep him on the books as a relieving crew....
Only good thing about the holiday period was I won the annual shooting trophy at the Horse stud farm.....
Now Mark has covid ................we figured out that we got it from one of the punters off saturdays charter
