Ruger American gen2
Re: Ruger American gen2
If they had it chambered in a cartridge I wanted/needed, I’d probably have one.

Someone needs to buy one and give it a go!

Re: Ruger American gen2
I've been paying close attention to it since it was announced. I am tempted by one in 7mm08 or 7mm RM.
A big holdup for me is I would end up ditching the stock, at which point I would be in the price range of a T3x Roughtech, which is IMO an objectively better rifle.

One issue I have is the .223/5.56 only comes with a 10 round magazine. Not a bad thing but shooting off bags would be a challenge due to my style. Maybe not though, I can always adapt and raise my rest and rear bag.

Bud’s has a 7-08 in stock. Great cartridge! Even if the Shrub doesn’t get all warm and tingly about it.

It uses AR mags. Buy a 5 rounder and you're good to go.

Saw that. The need for me doesn't really exist yet, and might never exist. I envision it as a backup/loaner rifle in a common round with my main squeeze, which is really not where I want to focus limited funds.
I don't see myself buying another rifle this year unless my Remington 700 7mm RM continues to frustrate me and I ditch it for the aforementioned Tikka.

My 7mmRM never ceases to frustrate me.
Re: Ruger American gen2
The stock turns me away from them. I do not like that style of stock at all. Based on the prices I see them being sold for I can find better for me options that require less cost to make what I want.

You can buy a 5rnd Magpul magazine for bench work.

Re: Ruger American gen2
I wish the short action, .308 family cartridges, used magpul LR mags as well. That would be sweet.

The Gen 2 rifles use AICS pattern mags in the .308 length cartridges, and I think actually come with a Magpul mag. Or did you mean LR-308 (so Pegasus doesn't yell at me for saying AR-10) mags?

Oh! Well then……..I still don’t need one. I still don’t need one. Of their offerings, I’ve considered the ‘06. But when I sit and think honestly……..why? I have two already and don’t even use them. So…….

I actually don’t know you could get 5 round AR mags

I don't care for the spiral grooved barrel. I wish they'd taken that extra money and put it in a stock. i wouldn't buy one unless I ran up on a killer deal.

For some reason the Ranch model n .450 is appealing just because I have nothing like that gun, but for the life of me I can’t figure out what I’d hunt with it anywhere near here.
