Update… Howa semi build
Got everything together..
I haven’t bedded it yet. Gonna order the aluminum this weekend… inshallah. I have about three projects going, and juggling them.
I bore sighted the scope after I mounted it. Was still way low and right on paper. But, for a cold bore… the first three shots grouped very well.
There is a little slack in the trigger. Then it breaks with a breath… if I can figure out how to take up the slack, I’ll keep it.
I’m a little disappointed at the MDT stock. Everything fits nice, but they did not do a good job in the trigger housing. There is a huge gap that will allow dirt and debris in to gunk up your trigger. I’ll take a picture and post it. The Magpul stock in the same price range doesn’t have that.
Other than that, the field stock does well for me.
The Arken scope is good. It is clearer than my vortex..but, those turrets are a little too easy to turn. I went with Warne mounts on it.
Next will be waiting for a day with no or little wind to see what grain is best. I was shooting 150 Aguila. It would be nice if I can get it take 162.

Which MDT stock did you get?

So you got the field stock from reading your other post.
It’s got an aluminum V block that does the job that traditional bedding does.
Dont bother with bedding it.
I’ve got a rifle with an aluminum bedding block. I’ve shot multiple 1/3 moa groups. Out to 300.

Pics or it’s all a lie.

Re: Update… Howa semi build
It’s constrained by the V. It can’t move laterally. Adding compound won’t make it move less, since it can’t move to begin with.
If there was only a V at each action screw and the rest was left floating, it wouldn’t matter.

The test is simple. Drop the action into the stock. If there is any movement in any direction bed it. With Remingtons usually bedding the lug and an inch or less of the barrel is enough to make the action immobile in the stock. Then torque as usual.
Re: Update… Howa semi build
Yeah. Shoot it first. It probably won’t need bedding. Torque it again after shooting it some.

Being associated with random dudes who met on the Internet and have their picture taken while holding bovine testicles isn’t weird at all.Centermass wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 3:51 am
