Easiest deer I ever got!

Post by fisheadgib »

It wasn't really hunting, but what the heck. I was doing stuff around the house and went to refill the wife's bird feeders and noticed a little button buck thrashing around on the ground about ten feet from the house. I didn't notice any obvious wounds on it and with gun season closed, I thought it best to call FWC. The game warden was here in about 10 minutes and decided to shoot it. After looking it over, he found some dings on it and determined that it was hit by a vehicle. He said it looked healthy otherwise and asked if I wanted it. Heck yes! It was about 60lbs and if I wasn't already making pork chops, we'd be having chicken fried backstrap with mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner.

Anybody ever do the foot-pounds math on a 35,000,000 grain Ford?
WWJMBD?

I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.

You’ve eaten bugs and mice.

Coming home from the SE shoot one year, there was an Angus yearling trotting down the middle of the road at 10:30 at night. We missed it and pulled over and called the sheriff's department as we were only a few miles from home. We were shining flashlights on the cow so people would see it better while we waiting for the sheriff and this lady torpedoed it so hard that it flew about 30 feet and barely missed my truck. The cop had to put it down and I asked him if I could have it but he declined. That would have been some great eating.

There are 5 dead deer on the five mile long road I live on. Can't believe the Amish that go through everyday don't pick them up.

There's a family story about when Uncle John hit a deer and he sent my cousin to find a Sheriff so they could issue a roadkill permit.
The deer began to have other thoughts and Uncle John had to finish it with his pocket knife.
Fortunately everyone was on a first name basis and the deer went to good use.

I think my easiest; in a way, was when I trekked many miles in Scotland through forest and moorland only to return to my vehicle and shoot one not 25 yards from the thing! At least I didn't have to drag it far!
