The round butt on a 4.25" .44 for a steady diet of warm Specials would make me very happy indeed.
That would be a fun revolver. I’ve looked at the Alaskan 44 super Redhawk…. With a GP grip it would be kinda fun!

Yikes! Today I was browsing the left overs from the Memorial Day sale at the local range and spotted a Redhawk .44 2 3/4 in barrel
Had to have a closer look. Staff is knowledgeable and when I told them that would be a handful to control he told me it was also available in .45 long colt and that the 45 colt flavor would also run 454 Cas.
Might check your model to see if it also runs .454

The staff is most certainly…..not knowledgeable.
The 45 colt won't run 454.

The 454 will run 45 colt however.

Absolutely. Di c k Casull specifically designed the 454 a touch longer so it couldn’t be chambered in a 45 Colt. And, more powder capacity. If the revolver cylinder is not fluted, it’s a 454. If it’s fluted, it’s not. I think with the RedHawks, the only ones not fluted are 454 and 480. That’s for the additional pressure of those rounds.

Did Ruger factory chamber any of the Linebaughs?

Not that I know of. They can be custom chambered. For those with deep pockets, I guess.

Yeah those “experts” are minimum wage range warriors. I wouldn’t expect them to really get everything right…… 🤣

Minor quibble, but I believe the only Redhawks that can chamber .454 or .480 are the Super Redhawks, which have a different frame.

BTW, you can get a Redhawk (not super) with an unfluted cylinder. That's going to be an 8-shot .357.

You are correct there. I was thinking Super Redhawk but didn’t state it. I focused on the point that a 454 or 480 will not have fluted cylinders. If it’s a Redhawk with fluted cylinders, it can’t take 454 cartridges, obviously. Thanks for the clarification.

The same principle applies to the 8 shot 357 Redhawk. A fluted cylinder gets a bit too thin to handle the pressure.
