Hey Scott Mayer...
@Scott Mayer
Got a small favor to ask of you.
Can you measure the overall case length of one of your 45 shotshells?
I have learned how to make them without a set of those "unobtanium" dies you had, but I have to trim the cases manually. I've heard 1.20-1.25" is the sweet spot but would love to know for sure.
FYI, from my research, BPI's "stump" 410 wads, cut in half, supposedly make FABLOUS over powder wads, if you're still loading them.

Yes, I use Stumps. I'll measure when I get home tonight and get back to you

Thanks. I got my "Stumps" and another 11# bag of #12 shot yesterday.Scott E. Mayer wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 6:45 pm Yes, I use Stumps. I'll measure when I get home tonight and get back to you
I'm going to be making mine from 7-08 and MAYBE some 6.5CM brass. Though some of the CM brass may get necked up and have the shoulder pushed back to make 7mmIHMSA bras, just to see how well it works
My XP has a tight chamber, so necking down 300 Sav brass doesn't work, 22-250 needs neck reaming and my preferred 250 Sav brass is pretty much "unobtanium", so the 6.5CM brass might be the easiest parent case to use to make them.
I picked up 2 complete boxes of once fired Winchester 6.5 CM brass, to experiment with.

Extractor groove angle is also important. For example, 308 Win works while 30-06 will notGrapeApe wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2024 3:07 amThanks. I missed something. What shotshells? How do you make these? Do they cycle in a pistol?

Re: Hey Scott Mayer...
Since the dies Scott uses have been discontinued and are now stupid expensive if you can find a used set, I'm going the route of the late "Grumpa" on "Cast Boolits" forum

According to SAAMI, the 7-08 has the same extractor angle as its 308 parentScott E. Mayer wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2024 3:55 pm
