This is a trap one and these are bottom ejection.
Guess I needed something to eat those old shells.

I think they do still make many fine guns ....we just can't afford them.
Just the wood upgrade now would probably equal or exceed what an old classic costs for a whole gun.
I have a wood junkie in the family....hopefully he appreciates what I'm trying to do.

17. When they changed Models Ithaca picked up the JMB design

BTW it still works...and looks to be. Pre WW1.
My aimpoint was centered just below the barcode and that's where it seemed to hit.

Yeah, I see what you said about the breaking part, my kids have Neanderthal in them like Zee, stuff breaks all the time.

Actually, I had him try a Browning BPS this past trap season and his scores went up and he was more consistent, so you you are kind of right from a design standpoint

There are examples like that, the Hepburn target rifles, and the M1917-based Model 30 Sporters which showed that Remington could play at the same level of Winchester for fit and finish. I think it was mostly WWII that drove them toward the "MORE! CHEAPER! FASTER!" production mindset. Clearly not the same company after as it was before.

I think if I was a serious shotgun hunter or clay-buster, I'd probably really like a bottom eject shotgun that deposits the empties at your feet / in your boat. As it is, I'm so programmed by the "combat" practicality of a gun that loads and ejects through separate holes that I tend to flee from the 37 and BPS format. Call it a character flaw.

I agree with Slug on the eject at your feet. I used an Ithaca pump for ducks mostly because it was the only full choke long barrel I owned. Shooting left with right eject on the Browning auto and Franchi often put ejecting hulls in my field of view.

The gun is a takedown so I got brave and did that.
Took the opportunity to lubricate it.
Then headed to the range for more testing.
It is still in time.....fired 3 fast ones.
Then checked effects at 25 yards.
First bottle I just aimed center.
2nd I pretended was a turkey head.
I liked the results.
