Labradar vs. Magnetospeed

I recall a conversation about these, anyone have either? Both? Opinions please.

I have the garmin, which is closer to the Labradar than the magneto speed.
Doesn't change POI, doesn't care what's attached to the muzzle.
Heard that the labradar can be finicky about triggering

If you’re referring to the strap on magneto speed, (I assume they only make strap ons) then…no.
It’s a dumb idea. You can’t test for precision and speed at the same time.

The garmin seems to be where it’s at.

I know a midget who just loved the magneto, then bought a plain Jane chronograph, then used a Garmin and had his boss buy him one. So there’s that.

I’ve used all three mentioned above.

One thing I will give the Labradar, is its ability to give multiple velocities and I think you can sort of define the ranges, to some degree.

Would help with being able to figure out actual BCs

My Dad bought a Labradar a few years ago. The intention was that he'd be able to set up without having to call a line break to either set up or to re-adjust for a new target.

Didn't read reliably, read other people's bullets, kept failing to read because the auto shutoff feature kept kicking in. I don't recall if we ever ran it out of juice - I think we were too frustrated to take it that far. Nothing good to say.

End result is we're still using the Oehler 35P that he bought in the '80's or early '90's. 9 volt batteries, cables, ticker tape printer, and the 4-foot double rifle case he-transports it it. . .the sucker just WORKS.

I am watching one of each on an auction, both looked like new and there was not much bidding going on, sounds like for good reason

I have a magneto speed collecting dust. Garmin, while not perfect, is a great product.
