Well done. The build came to fruition.

The one and only time I went out near Limon, Co. We just hunted a couple private ranches we had permission on. We did ok filling 4 out of 6 tags. No trophy size heads but decent bucks. I used a 257 Roberts Imp. on that particular hunt and took my buck at just under 300 yards.

That looks like a good buck from here, looks a good wound channel in the picture, how far did he go after the shot?

It served its job well. I may start testing out CX bullets in it now as I do have some concerns about how well the InterLock will hold up at closer shots on game.

Its an old buck with less length but much more mass than a younger buck. Im good with that. He twisted toward us as he dropped and ended up spun about 90 degrees but still in the same spot. The side you can see is the exit.

I am hoping to be able to do this again with my dad, but he had been talking about this trip being his last pronghorn trip. That may or may not change though.

I have had no problem with 180 gr. .30 interlocks at just under 3000 fps out of my .300 Win Mag on MN whitetails, I don't recall not having an exit hole.

Last Pronghorn was a .30-06 with a 150gr InterLock at 3100 fps. Past experience from others with many years of use with the InterLock bullets suggests that impact velocities over about 3000 fps start to become iffy with the bullet holding together. Not exactly a whole lot holding the core to the jacket. If this rifle does make another pronghorn trip I will probably look at using a 120gr or 130gr CX bullet.

Antelope are pretty soft. They tend to explode.

Went to my parents this morning to finish butchering and packaging the meat. Everything was deboned by the time I got there and the bones had been disposed of already, but apparently the bullet also went through both shoulder blades. It should have still been going around 2300 FPS at 400 yards, so I guess I shouldnt be too surprised. It would have been interesting to have a recovered bullet to inspect, but I have no grand visions of ever recovering a bullet on a Pronghorn. Im not even sure you would capture a bullet on a frontal shot.

Antelopes? He was using a 30-06, not a .270 ;)

.270 would have bounced off. Previous trip was a .30-06 and this trip was a 6.5-06. Maybe next trip should be a 6mm-06? Or maybe a 6.8-06, but that would just bounce off.

It was in some pretty thick brush, and as soon as I had a clear shot at the body I squeezed. Using my thermal and AR.

Moved a tripod stand, it was over looking this white pine monster, I shot 2 fork horns in this location and one of my cousins friends shot a monster out of a climber about 70 yds away

Hunting was slow this weekend for the youth deer hunt season, it was warm and bright all night with the super moon, me and DeanC punted by Saturday PM after hunting Thursday through Saturday AM and got on some back burner projects, turned the kids loose on the grouse and we all got 7 total, moved the tripod stand from the white pine to the edge of the beaver pond, went good with all the minions helping, had to do some chainsawing to get the stand out of the woods
