Ruger update…. And daughter!

Post by Wambli Ska »

I posted some pictures of the newest family addition about a year ago. My daughter had just gotten a new Cane Corso puppy she named Ruger!

Well Ruger is now 14 months old and almost done with advanced protections training. We just went to the park to work on a “bite session”. He weighs in at a dainty 140 lbs 🤣🤣🤣

Now if you’re observant you’ll notice a slight belly bulge on my flight instructor. I’m going to be a grandpa in January!!!!! First puppy is grown, now time for another baby addition. It’s a girl and her name is Chloe 😎

Thank you gentlemen. Grandpa is already making a list of suitable firearms for the little one. I don’t even want to know what the shopping bags grandma keeps piling on the corner of the bedroom are. 🤣🤣🤣

As for the pooch, it’s interesting “petting” a dog head that’s the size of a basketball 🤣

During his first training session he bit THROUGH the bite suit. Now only one trainer works with him and he wears two neoprene sleeves under the bite suit.

Congratulations! Life is treating you well!
Ruger may just be the perfect Cane Corso name!

Thanks! Never thought of it that way

Daughter is a shooter and SIL is a gun nut so it was inevitable he'd end up with a gun name.

Congratulations grandpa! That is too cool!
As for Ruger, my hunting buddy has two of those, Sarge and Tank, and they are gentle giants. Great dogs. BTW, my black and white GSP is named Ruger.

That’s cool! I think it’s a great name for dogs!

He is a gentle giant. One thing you do NOT want in a protection trained dog is a bad attitude or excessive aggression. My GS had extensive protection training and he used to routinely throw his 6’4”, 240lb trainer to the ground and drag him around, and yet the 4 year old triplets next door used to use him as a pony😎

The protection training is half work, half play for these dogs that are suitable for it. That is how you can get them to turn on, or more importantly, to stop instantly when you give the right command. He can tear an arm off a bad guy and she can tell him to be friends with the person he just destroyed and he’ll happily do it. It’s not personal, just work.

I love it! You need to build a tow cart for the baby and harness for the dog! Design it so as she grows she can sit up and steer the dog like a horse. Heck one of our members is good with leather, a saddle would be cool  A scabbard for an air soft 94, canteen, cow girl suit with a cross draw cap gun...... Heck make two...the second could look like an airplane! Ruger is a work dog, he'll get lots of exercise and it will give him another purpose in life other than scattering land mines.
