Ruger making Glock parts might not be so bad.

So, one IG account I follow says they have them in hand. They call it the Ruglock. Removable, serialized fire control unit that you can add different grip modules to. Like a Sig 320 to fit a Glock frame. Metal sights, $499 MSRP, $399 at Bud's.

I see they took the “fat ass” off the grip. Might be worth holding one to see how it fits my hand.
Re: Ruger... made a Glock clone?
With the removable FCU, maybe someone will make a PDW chassis for it.

Re: Ruger... made a Glock clone?
Definitely worth a look!! Aaaaaaand I can use existing holsters/mags!
Re: Ruger... made a Glock clone?
Maybe it’ll take Glock Magazines. Ha!

Re: Ruger... made a Glock clone?
Maybe this one won’t get recalled like all other new Ruger pistols.

Re: Ruger... made a Glock clone?
It DOES take Glock pattern mags, and comes with the Magpull G19 mags

Re: Ruger... made a Glock clone?
So then, I can just stick with my Glock Pistols?

Snooze. Ruger has been really good about racing to the bottom handgun wise.
They should have done a 2011 comparable to the SA Prodigy, but reliable.

I looked, and I can piece together a NotAGlock for $325 or so, plus the cost of a mag and a transfer fee. It'll come with a stock Glock trigger, but... so what.
The only allure I see to the Ruger is being able to change grip modules and what some say is a better trigger. Oh, and Magpul sells new grip modules. In black and grey. They're the same size and shape as the Ruger, so you can't get a more compact one, yet.

Given that. . .
I have no problem with the Glock grip. . .
. . .and I have no problem with the Glock trigger. . .
. . .and I think the changes made from Gen 3 to Gen 5 are wonderful. . .
. . .and I think the Sig P320 concept of a serialized fire control component dropped into a generic frame is pretty dumb. . .
I guess you could say my skirt is not blown up.
That said, the 1911 kinda swept the table on semi auto pistol design when it arrived, and the basic Glock pattern has kinda been doing that same. The S&W Sigma acknowledged this 30 years back and now Ruger is following. Rule #1: It's gotta work. Rule @2: It's gotta be easy to keep working. Hard to beat it. Might as well join it.

This may be more Sig than Glock?
Neither are favorites but these days everyone has gotta build a plastic double stack 9mm with a sub 4in barrel.
Seen one seen them all
What’s with Ruger for the past decade or so?

Hey, I can put a Ruger slide on Rooster and Maverick (my PSA Daggers) now

Re: Ruger... made a Glock clone?
This Ruger is pitching an MSRP of $499, so probably $425-$450 in the real world. Potentially pricier than a home-build, but. . .breamfisher wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 8:22 pm I looked, and I can piece together a NotAGlock for $325 or so, plus the cost of a mag and a transfer fee. Two problems I've frequently seen when test-firing a large number of dirt-bag-completed 80-percenters, 3D-printeds, and the like
#1. The assembler has to know what they're doing. Things like proper order of installation, function checks, etc... Sometimes they don't. Sometimes they do. . .or maybe they just got lucky.
#2. With parts from potentially half a dozen manufacturers being poured into one build, you can get tolerances stacking up in the wrong directions. Firing pins not engaging properly on trigger bars has been a common one. I dunno about you, but triggers failing to reset or uncontrolled doubling/full-auto are not my idea of fun.
At least with a single-source build like this Ruger, you get a pile of parts that were intended to run with each other.
Whatever. . .
I go "A1 format" by installing arched mainspring housings on my 1911's to ensure that they don't point low, so the widespread "ELIMINATE THE GLOCK HUMP!" hysteria gets no traction with me.
My main observation of those who claim they can't shoot a Glock trigger - or any other trigger that isn't super-sexy, match-tuned bitchin' - is that they are lacking in grasp of the basic shooting fundamentals of grip, maintaining sight picture, and trigger control. Spend some time running a revolver DAO and you'll eventually figure it out - or not - but if a light, single-action (ish) pull is what you think you need for success, you're not likely to find Nirvana in the Land of the Striker Fired, where Sponge Bob the Trigger is the norm.

And I can almost look into the future and see these on “sale” at Sportsman’s Warehouse well under $400.

CZ P10C is almost $100 less and no Glock trigger

Funny enough, the only two guns I've ever needed to send back were……Ruger.
