Ho, ho, ho… round two, St Nick strikes again.

Post by Wambli Ska »

Sooooo, while I was at BPS I also fondled another revolver that I really liked, BUT I felt guilty about doing a twofer even though I sent pics to Elk creek, my Cowboy gun expert, and he said BUY IT! (Actually he said “buy it for me for Christmas!” but I ignored him 🤣).

Couldn’t sleep all night thinking about that other gun so I went back this morning and it was till there, obviously a sign from God I could not ignore or I’d be sinning!

A Ruger New Vaquero in .44 Special. What is interesting about this gun according to Elk creek is that only a few hundred were ever made on the New Vaquero frames but they were rollmarked with the old Vaquero mark! So this sucker is quite a BIT rare! 4.5” barrel which I like a LOT! It was already priced WELl below where it should have been and I got an extra 10% off. Came with box and all original paperwork.

And while he was letting me play with this gun the sales guy says my other gun was approved for pickup and I told him to start the paperwork on this one too. So the Smith came home tonight and I just got the call I can pick up the Ruger tomorrow!

At some point I REALLY have to start shopping for my wife’s Christmas gifts 😱

Oh and to make this more interesting Elk creek has EXACTLY the same gun and serial numbers show his is exactly 380 guns after mine!!! How cool is that! What are the odds…

Nice! I'm a big fan of the .44Spl cartridge. It just seems to be inherently accurate. Congrats!

It's a good thing.
Knowing her, if you don't renew her contract, there might be another contract, involving you ;)

Yes it’s does seem that way. My 624 makes me look good at the range every time! It’s a confidence builder for sure.

Can’t wait to take a box of tin cans out to the desert and play fast draw with this one!

The biggest downside of buying guns from bass pro is their buying process can best be described as a “meathook abortion. “
But, sometimes the hassle is worth the discount. The two you bought would have been NOT good deals here. Maybe a regional thing. Most any current-ish production used wheel gun goes for the same money as new.

I am glad I now live 45 minutes from Bass pro and cabelas. Because every time I think "it'll be different this time" and come back like a battered wife.... and then they make the buying process even worse.

Yeah, that candy stripe tape on the box is gonna keep me from doing anything nefarious with the gun. Sure... walk me out the door.... fine get another tattooed moron to make sure I didn't misspell "Travis County" on the paperwork...

Now you are getting with the program a single action 44!
Though you probably already own a half dozen or so
You can’t be carrying the same one more than once a week

Congrats you must have been very good this year (errr not)
