That is some nasty looking coal. We had a coal furnace. Had to go with Dad and hand load it into a truck. Coal should be shiny.

Yup, I grew up in the Thunder Basin in Wyoming. That area digs more coal out of the ground that most anywhere in the world. Most of the people I knew growing up burned coal.

We had a coal heater, using coal like the ones pictured here. It was a good heater in the only heat in the house. It was my night chore to tote in a bucket for the next day.

If you're into old time radio, The Shadow radio show was advertised by Blue Coal, a brand of coated coal with a blue coating. Artificial, of course. They offered different sizes of coal. If you wanted a sample, Blue Coal would give you a ton . Anthracite, whatever that is.

anthracite is a better grade with less impurities than bituminous.

My first car had a white vinyl top. Huge mistake when you have a coal furnace. No amount of Comet or Wesley's Bleach White would get it clean.

We had a crib (room) for the coal with a chute. We used one of my older brothers 2wd 1/2 ton 8ft bed trucks to get coal from a local strip pit. Our record load was 1 3/4 tons. Every load was over a ton and that lasted the whole winter. Dad got a load before winter no matter how much was left in the crib. Which meant we got to shovel everything from under the chute to make room for the new. In the late 70's- early 80's there was always an active pit within a two mile radius of the house. Nobody touched the furnace except for dad. My brother Jeff and I were the youngest and we had to take the washtub of ashes out to the garden once a week. You didn't want to procrastinate or we would have to drag it the whole way.

I sort of did. Wife got me a few things to support my sporting clays habit: a Yeti water bottle with a sleeve to attach to my gear bag, one of their waterproof pouches for my cigars on the cart, and a set of beefed-up dental tools for cleaning tight spots on my shotguns.

As far as I'm concerned Larry, if it's for use at the range, it's shooting related ;)

A quick Google search says Yeti cut ties with the NRA, but supports the 2nd Amendment

Only thing I can find is where Yeti and the NRA had a falling out in 2018
“When we notified the NRA Foundation and the other organizations about this change, YETI explained that we were offering them an alternative customization program broadly available to consumers and organizations, including the NRA Foundation,” the statement read. “These facts directly contradict the inaccurate statement the NRA-ILA distributed on April 20.” pic.twitter.com/EhrTay3RAa — YETI (@YETICoolers)

April 23, 2018 The NRA letter said "YETI has declined to do business with The NRA Foundation saying they no longer wish to be an NRA vendor, and refused to say why. They will only say they will no longer sell products to The NRA Foundation.”

As soon as Delta, REI, United, and First National Bank of Omaha are mentioned im out. I will not purchase goods or services from any of those companies (and quite a few others) for any reason.

That’s odd, if that’s what you know about the issue. Because nowhere in that article did it mention Yeti contributing to gun control groups as you mentioned. Just that they cut ties with the NRA.

That's from when I first learned about it together with ****'s Sporting Goods many years ago. Some other companies I know about are Levi and Sara Lee. I have all of this documented on my old computer which no longer functions on the I-net.
