As we close 2024…
Ok, the ABSOLUTE last ones of this year…
Wife wanted a Yoga-pants gun so we just picked up a brand new Optics Ready SIG P365 for her and while she was shopping I saw a used Kahr PM9 in great condition at a price I could not pass up soooooo…
They both came home tonight. Happy New Year folks!!!!

You know…. A few years back I brought home a gun from Gander Mountain on 12/31 and told the wife it was the last one of the year. That night just before midnight we are at a party at a friend’s house and a buddy asks me to go outside to his car and shows me a pre-64 Winchester 94 and tells me he’s thinking of selling it. I walked back into the house with the rifle and told the wife, “Hey, I lied before.”.

Happy New Year
I know the Sig well, how is the weight of the Kahr compared to it?

Kahr is about the same size with a slide shorter by maybe 1/4+” but a hair slimmer in the grip area and ounces lighter because it’s a single stack so less ammo but also slightly flatter in a pocket.
Frankly the SIG is the better technology for the size but I’ve had an itch for the PM9 for a long time and well… there it was.

I'm surprised the Kahr didn't rise to a higher popularity just solely off of how stupid simple they are built. I randomly see them and I don't know if that's due to low ownership or high quality.

They were hot for a while. Their new gun price point is too high nowadays considering you can get a Glock 43 for about $100-200 less than what Kahr wants for a new P9 or PM 9 and when the 43X and P365 got popular Kahrs kind of fell by the wayside. About the same size and twice the capacity.Justsomedude wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:31 am I'm surprised the Kahr didn't rise to a higher popularity just solely off of how stupid simple they are built. What used to be a $600 gun is now about $300 or so used but the quality and reliability is superb. So it’ll now be my “pocket” gun when I want to tuck in my shirt. Smaller and lighter than a J frame and two extra shots with the flush mag. What’s there not to like.

Makes me think of a .30 M1 carbine, a .50 Desert Eagle or a .45 tommy gun...Justsomedude wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:31 am I'm surprised the Kahr didn't rise to a higher popularity just solely off of how stupid simple they are built. Kahr vs Glock 43. Not a massive difference but enough to make the 43 tougher to pants pocket carry and draw for me. I also like the size and angle of the Kahr a lot! It’s a SMALL 9mm pistol but doesn’t shoot/handle like one. Feels more… “solid” to me.

If you're going to expose it to sweat, be sure and get a drop of oil on the trigger pivot pin every now and again. I saw one (just one) that rusted and the trigger was seized.

Good to know! Thanks

Re: As we close 2024…
Nice score! I shot Ron's 365 and had to have one. It's now my carry gun when I'm wearing yoga pants!
Re: As we close 2024…
Hear I always thought to get uglier than a Glock you had to go to a Hi Point. Kahr has proved me wrong
Hope it's a good shooter for you. The P-365XL is something I keep toying with when I try to convince myself I need a dedicated carry gun. But then, I haven't gotten a CCW yet ether

You could do a lot worse than a P365 XL as an EDC
