New Identity Theft scam:
New Identity Theft scam:
Scammer calls, claiming to be from a local pharmacy and needing to "verify some information"
They claimed to be from a pharmacy that we don't use, so I figured it was a scam.
I attempted to call the number on my caller ID back from a different number and I got the "The number you tried to call is not a working number"
Be careful!!

Re: New Identity Theft scam:
We get constant calls but from states all over, lately they have been using Texas and when we don't answer gat a local number.
They never leave a message but do make a noise made so it records.

I have been getting the possible scam message and reject the call. They call right back with a number from the same area code as mine.

Just got this one. Takes about 2 seconds on Google to figure out which country the message came from…

This one came in 2 days ago. A bit better production value and more elaborate, except the sender has a Gmail address
I’m ALMOST tempted to call the number and just Fück with them for a while.

Yeah, the toll and paypal ones have been all over the local news. I hadn't heard about a "pharmacy" until they called me this afternoon.

Oh my wife and her mom both fit the “pharmacy” call in the last few days.

Re: New Identity Theft scam:
I get a lot of texts saying that a package I mailed through USPS is held up with customs and I need to submit information. What is spooky, is it DOES correlate usually with me sending packages, and one time a package actually did go through customs. Fortunately I noticed the suspicious URL because they almost got me.

I ignore 100% of calls, texts, and emails UNLESS I’ve ordered something.
If it’s NOT a scam, they will get back with me.

One that’s going around here is the “sheriff” calls you and says you didn’t show up for jury duty and are under arrest unless you want to “take care of the fine over the phone.”
They do actually use the correct sherrif info, at least

I keep getting the "sextortion" emails. I also got a few real emails in a few hours time the other night that my X account, Gmail, Apple and PayPal accounts had all been hacked and telling me to change my password. No idea how that happened.
