Corner of bumper vs. sensor.

I bet you'd be singing a MUCH sadder tune if you'd have backed INTO the corner of the bumper with one of your sensors/camera(s)

Nope!!! My bumper has ZERO sensors and the camera is HIGH on the tailgate over the latch. You’d have to total the freaking back of the Gladiator to get to it.

And when I replace my bumpers with the 100% metal ones it’ll be even worse for anyone that touches me. I’ve been rear ended twice while driving Jeeps and both times drove away with zero damage leaving stuff to be towed behind me. Most cars just wedge themselves under my bumper and the spare is in there.

The rock crawlers make it nearly impossible for anyone to dent my doors in parking lots too.

The "running boards/step bar" on the side of mine stop most door dents too.

I've been hit in the back bumper once and had an idiot back into my front bumper once, enough to lift my front end, with cops and firemen standing around, then drive off if nothing happened. (I wanted to get the idiot for leaving the scene of an accident or hit and run but nobody got a good look at the driver, just the tag number)

Between them both, I got a $450 scratch to the plastic on my front bumper.

I still have the scratch, and pocketed the $$

Good thing there isn't a Honda Motorsports.

Hey, I'm just glad Toyota kept TRD for their trucks. They've changed the car performance division to "Toyota Gazoo Racing"

4x2 or 4x4?

My service guy at the dealer was definitely of the opinion that the high output 4 was having some teething issues, but I imagine Toyota has enough experience building inline 4's to eventually figure it out. Hope it goes well for you.

I'm getting about 19mpg on average commuting down and uphill to work with my 2022's V6 with a Snugtop on the back and 9 feet of Prinsu roof rack along the top. If you're managing 22, sweet!

4x4. Around my part of the world, a 4x2 is a special order item, and one that will raise an eyebrow from the salesperson at that.

I know the Twin Turbo V6 in the Tundra was having massive issues, but it does seem that the 2.4L Turbo in the Taco has been less problematic, though last year's model had transmission issues. I'm confident enough to at least give it a go, despite being a 2nd MY after a total redesign. I am still tempted by the 100K warranty, but I have some time to decide.

I would really like a Snugtop, I had a comparable Leer on my 2014 Tacoma that was quite useful. However, when the base model is north of $3K, that is something that will have to be on the backburner for awhile. I will likely, as an intermediate solution, get one of the aluminum tri-fold covers. The 4th gen Tacoma has a deeper bed, so those covers aren't as limiting as they were in previous gens. Plus, $1K or so is a way easier pill to swallow, especially when I can probably sell it later for $500. If it keeps one snowboard or gun from being sticky fingered at the gas station, it was worth it.

Consider the following: https://bambeds.com/

I did these in mine, painted them black, and worked up a system to interlock the boards together with aluminum H-channel. The effect is that the deck is not terribly visible through the Snugtop windows, and with the tailgate locked, you'll need to be really determined to get at what's underneath them.

Coupled it up with a tailgate tent Velcroed to the ceiling. Maybe not the most comfortable emergency shelter, but I have slept in worse.

Ruh Roh Raggy...

Folks are going to think you're a Jeep owner if you keep on modding it  :P ;)

Edited to add: Just a FYI, I found going up to 265/75s (5%, 13.25mm or 0.52" taller) from the stock 265/70s got the speedo a LOT closer to accurate. Though mine was made prior to the huge Honda lawsuit, which had manufacturers tweaking their speedos and odometers to stop them from being sued next

Very nice Toy, SS3! I picked up an old FJ last summer, and my ‘son’ the 4Runner guy is helping me fix it up. They’re a lot of fun, and it’s nice to have a truck again I can actually work on!

I’m sorry, I’ll try to visit more often. :) I created a bit of a monster last year when I taught my adopted ‘son’ how to shoot, and ended up teaching his friends and his girl, so that’s been taking most of my free time; they can’t get enough range time!

I swapped the tires out while I could still pull off selling the OEM take-offs. Discount Tire gave me enough trade in credit on them that I decided to do that instead of burn my time trying to sell them myself. 3-peak rated is a must for me, so I pulled the trigger on some DT exclusive Goodyear Wrangler UltraTerrains in the stock load and size. If anything, they look cool:
