Re: ICE dumps the SigP320/M18
Hey I agree, and if there were any shortcuts in testing etc or any corruption involved when the ARMY picked the P320, those in charge need to be roasted on a spit and the publicly skinned for the masses to enjoy. And the original 700 trigger had no MIM parts, the new POS trigger does.

Now it gets a little more complicated. The AF OSI just arrested someone for “ making a false official statement, obstruction of justice and involuntary manslaughter” in the death of the airman from the 320 that was supposedly still in the holster:

You couldn't write a movie script as good as everything that's going on with Sig and the M18/P320 right now.
It's going to be interesting seeing the ending

It sounds like Sig could have done some immediate digging when this first started happening, came up with a revised striker with a longer/deeper sear and a stronger safety spring, offer a recall notice and have saved face. Little late now. Once people start making memes of your company or product, you're cooked.

Re: ICE dumps the SigP320/M18
Like I’ve said, it’s absolutely suspect, but I’m not ready to dump my shovelful of dirt into their grave. And yes it could have been managed by SIG a lot better than it has been.

Lets see the measurements across a statistically significant sample size before making any assertions.

I’ve seen three videos where a 320 fired and shouldn’t have. That’s enough for me to not be wearing one!Japhy wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 2:52 amI remember the Volvo fiasco years ago with sudden uncontrolled acceleration. What do you want to bet the military will just give new carry guidelines. “Side arms shall be carried with a full magazine and an empty chamber.” There problem solved
Re: ICE dumps the SigP320/M18
Thats what Sig recommends! They changed their owners manual a few months ago when the dust up started.

The pre-A1 M16, its ammo, and lack of maintenance doctrine. . .
The Sig P320. . .
All selected and fielded through clouds of graft and political nonsense without sufficient advocacy for the troops who would need them to work. The 1911, Garand, and M1 Carbine are some of the very few we've gotten right, otherwise, having people die before the problems get sorted out is a time-honored requirement of U.S. small arms procurement.

Curiosity.
Does anyone here own a 320? Or was planning to get one?
Just curious why the care and concern so expressed on this forum. I personally could care less. Just not on my radar. And curious as to the dust up.

I had considered it a few years ago. But then I heard reports of them going off, so I decided my next pistol would be a Glock.
And yeah,"It Ends NOW" made me start paying attention.

Re: ICE dumps the SigP320/M18
Oh, I do want to address something mentioned earlier a few times that is dear to my heart.
The factory Remington 700 trigger, Prior to the new X-Mark Pro. Yes, that was a defective and possibly dangerous trigger. At least in a hard use working rifle. For a typical hunter that shoots a box of ammo a year and hunts under good conditions then puts his gun up for the year, I see very little issue. Maybe even a hunter that occasionally got his rifle dirty and then properly maintained it could be fine. But, I did see several triggers start the day in desert conditions just fine. Then, by the end of the day on the range, it was firing at the close of the bolt or the flip of the safety. New of a few other instances that I didn’t personally witness as well.
I’d like to think that we were the whistle blowers of sorts. But we call Remington and said we were headlining the rifles as such. Their response was to build a new trigger and rush them to us. Enter the X-Mark Pro. I installed them and we took them to the range. A trigger that started off at 3.5lbs wouldn’t go off under the weight of a 14# rifle by the end of the day on the range. Under the same conditions. I called Remington. As to not implicate anyone…….i won’t tell you their response.
Safe to say, we immediately started testing after market triggers. And chose a new one.
I still like the Remington 40X Trigger and have several. I will not run an old factory trigger or a new X-Mark Pro.
Don’t trust one and can’t stand the other. Paper weights. I take them out and throw them in the trash. Literally.

Re: ICE dumps the SigP320/M18
I own one. It's a unit commemorative gun that I designed, and I it take to the range occasionally. It COULD be a hard use match gun as it sits, but I'm so bought into the Glock platform for EDC and USPSA I don't have a good reason to switch.
As far as the concern over the P320 issue, to me this is the gun nerd equivalent of a soap opera.

Basically this. A company doubling down on “we are not at fault” is fun to watch. It’s created great memes. It also makes fan bois cry.bullsi1911 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 5:06 pm I completely ignored the whole thing till SIG made an ass of themselves online. Then it just became hilarious

The original M16 got boffed by a lot of interference from all sides. Once the gunpowder in the ammo got changed, the bore got fully chromed, and the forward-assist added, making it the "M16-A1" it was a pretty legit fighting tool. . .but the earlier reputation as a jam-o-matic persisted for a LOOOOOOOONG time afterwards.
That was 30+ years before we had an Internet and the phenomenon of "Death by a Thousand Memes".
30 years from now, you'll do a search for "Sig P320" or even just "Sig Sauer" and find the "It N.D.s Today" and the "Army discontinues grenades in favor of defective Sigs" gags.
The M16 was able to make a comeback, but in the great information age, the P320 may well be a thoroughly screwed pooch.

I have one, I have shot it enough to break it in, shot just fine, no extra holes in my junk or legs.

Wife won it at an NWTF banquet, got a Sig Store credit when we got it and I got the compact grip with a built in red laser and slapped the full size slide and barrel on it, easy peasy , picture with my JFrame for comparison

Re: ICE dumps the SigP320/M18
I was supposed to be issued one at work a few months ago. I passed on it, for a couple reasons. First, knowing I’m a short timer, I passed on it so they could issue it to someone else. Second, I just wanted to keep my G17. All the drama around the P320 hadn’t come up yet at the time. Now, they’ve pulled them from service and went back to G17s anyway.
Our local PD also pulled them from service last week.

Don't own one, not planning on buying one. Got interested from sheer curiosity when I read here that the FBI had issued a report cause I like to nerd out on those things to see if I can learn anything. The report was useless. Not interested anymore.
Re: ICE dumps the SigP320/M18
Now an enterprising technical type will pick up a p320 for a song then diagnose the problem implement a fix. Then offer a kit.
