Folk art horse pistol
Or so I've heard.....heathens I say.
I saw this one about 8 months ago.
It resurfaced today.
Price was way to good not to add to the kids collection.
I Really liked the grips. They were the draw for me on it.
Someone actually knew the contours of a horses head.

I don't know you personally but I don't like you. That one is special in ways other than caliber.
Re: Folk art horse pistol
Very interesting. I've got brass if you want it.

Thanks...it's.Definitely not factory engraved but probably dealer engraved in a NY style.Kansashunter wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 8:05 pm I don't know you personally but I don't like you. That one is special in ways other than caliber.
The grips are old though probably pre 1910 with that style medallions.
Ron I did some checking and before 1895 my guess right now would be around 1886

I can see that fitting nicely in a cross draw holster at a BBQ or Sunday MeetingJunkCollector wrote: ↑Sat Jul 22, 2023 10:40 pm Thanks Ron

Nice! I’ve got two of those and they are a hoot to shoot. Great score

That is a historically ugly ass pistol.

Re: Folk art horse pistol
That is pretty interesting, the history behind it would be fun to know

It sure would
The history on the grips is what I'd be most interested in.
I don't know if it really shows in my pictures but whoever did them was an artist.
That horse is contoured all over really well too IMHO

NOSTALGIA!
I don't remember the trigger guard configuration, but my rural-dwelling grandmother had one of those 4" top-break .38 S&W's in a nickle-plated version as her house gun. Had a bent barrel, sight or other defect that caused it to shoot significantly to one side. On one visit, my Dad used it successfully to kill a very erratically-behaving, possibly rabid squirrel.
In that era, I had no appreciation for the comparative rarity of .38 S&W vs. Special and probably made an economic pain in the ass of my young self shooting it. As she got into her frail years, it got traded off to set her up with a Ruger MKI. It lacked the history and the couple of cool stories, but it was a much more practical option for her at the time *SNIFF* 8_(

You’re from Oklahoma.
So is my wife.
She thought I was handsome.

I would tend to agree with you. But from a different perspective.JunkCollector wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 12:06 amMaybe not all....your hot.
BTW this was 400 OTD so basically a no brainer buy.

Yeah that’s an “interesting” revolver…. Very cool old shooter. I still call it folk art. A highly tooled holster to go with it wolf Abe perfect.
