You continue to make me think about restocking mine. We will have to see.
My Final Grail Gun finally came home.

Shoot your axis this year then start your restocking project this spring.
Re: My Final Grail Gun finally came home.
Well, still having some follower issues in feeding. Seems rather finicky.
Tried the Remington 80 PSP first with no real joy. Then tried my remaining handloads with 85gr Sierra HPBT-GK. Seems a little less than 2 inches. Not great, but I can kill an Axis with it. Then tried the Swift Scirroco II factory and first round hit 2 feet high and oblong. Second round completely missed the backer. Called it quits.
Got my handloads on the paster and stopped. I have 5 rounds left. Enough for an Axis.
More work to be done eventually.

Have F-Keith shoot it.

Well, now we know, concerning the Scirroccos

You have to remember this rifle is from an era where 2 MOA was considered a good gun and the internals were built around the Savage rounds. My .300 Savage cycles the whole mag of rounds like poop through a goose. This will require a little effort on your part, but a very worthwhile investment of time. I'm sure you'll get her dialed in. I'd personally stick to reloads made with bullets from the time this gun was made, nothing fancy. Mine likes plain ol' Rem CoreLoks.

I almost didn’t try them today. I pretty much figured. But hey…….they were there on the bench. Blowing raspberries at me. I had to try.

I was just hoping to push the easy button. Hoping two boxes of factory would last me the rest of the rifles life.Wambli Ska wrote: ↑Tue Oct 28, 2025 8:19 pm You have to remember this rifle is from an era where 2 MOA was considered a good gun and the internals were built around the Savage rounds. How do you make God laugh? Tell him your plan
Hey He blessed you with the gun

That is not bad for that gun, with rounds not tailored to it. I'm impressed!
Waiting for the pics of the dead Axis.
