It’s raining guns this Christmas…

Post by Wambli Ska »

My wife has been EXTRA good to me this year with a few new toys under the Christmas tree coming in this week. Thanks to Sako that got me intrigued with the whole 44-40 thing I now own a brace (that means two of them) of 44-40 4.5” SAs AND a Yellowboy ‘66 rifle in the same chambering as Christmas gifts from the wife.

I also picked up a blue NEW Vaquero 5.5” in .45 Colt that my MIL is gifting me, an Old Vaquero stainless 4.5” in .357 mag and last one from the wife came in today . A High Wall with a looooong octagon barrel in 45-70. This last one is absolutely picture worthy since it has the nicest color case hardening of probably any gun I own! In person the blues, greys and hints of gold and some reddish areas really don’t show up in the pictures no matter how I tried, but you can see the cool well defined patterns.

Sorry for the rushed poop pictures that do it NO justice.

BTW to make Big happy this rifle is “used” but NIB unfired and the first owner had a great trigger job done on it and it was modified to stay at full cock when you close the breech 🤠

Whole family is going shooting on Sunday. Everyone wants a turn with this one. SIL is loading a bunch of real BP rounds for it 👍👍

That .45-70 is gorgeous!

And you are getting quite the hail- interested in the range report

Well,I trust you and your STRONG interest made me look things up and the more I read and looked into it the more intrigued I got. You’ve cost my wife some cash brother 🤣

I’ll post some pics in a few days. I have the kids and grandkids all in town for Christmas so it’s a bit chaotic this weekend.

Very cool buddy.

Just how long is that barrel ?
Proportionally it looks like you can start in Mexico and hit Canada

Okay, that Hi Wall merits probably the biggest YOU SUCK I've posted on any iteration of this forum.

Actually all these 1800s guns are making me ignore everything else I own. And I don’t miss them. Just flagged a potential horse purchase today 😁

That is a fact! I don't even want another 45-70 but that long barrel is just too cool

Gorgeous Highwall...didn't notice if you said...who made it? Those things are addictive, I've had several, while the Brownings were the prettiest, the Pedersoli rifle were nothing to sneeze at...

I have already toyed with the idea of re-chambering to 45-110. But I’ll only do it if runs well on BP.
