Remington model 8 in 35 Remington joins the herd.

Post by JunkCollector »

Not exactly something on the radar.
It's cool factor and being in 35 Remington was pushing me on it.
It was also on the low end of values for these so can be a free ride if Sako needs to ever be enabled.
I think this one dates to 1908

It's a JMB design so can't be too bad.

Also found some favorite food.

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!

Very eager to hear how that one runs for you. I've handled a small number, but never fired nor been inside of one.

Gee. . .I wonder where Kalashnikov got his safety. . . ;)
WWJMBD?

I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.

It's an old stevens favorite I have in 32 rimfire.
Anytime you can find ammo is a plus.
The stuff I currently have has gone bang but not often on the first try......sometimes 6 or 7.....lol

I'm hoping this may have been stored better.
Really like the gun and it's esthetics with the octagon to round barrel

I'll shoot it tomorrow
Looking forward to seeing how this barrel performs with a recoil and buffer spring set up.

Well It still goes bang.
Feeds and ejects splendidly

I called it a model 8 but I guess correctly it's just a remington automatic name wise.
Apparently they didn't get named as a model 8 until 1911

The trigger I had to get familiar with.
First shot was terrible.....next two a little better.
Last 3 were alright....lol
I was only shooting at 30 yards
I think the guns plenty accurate
The operator just wasn't driving well

The search goes on for some more reliable 32 long rimfire.
I gave up trying......to cold for dealing with duds.

Oh and Elk Creek was wrong it does kick.....lol

Next sunny day lay out your rimfire ammo out in a towel and let it get nice and hot. After a few hours put it in a Tupperware or zip lock with some of those moisture absorbing packets. Done that a few times and it works to revive the primer compound which is usually just moist from years of humidity. If it doesn’t work you didn’t lose much.

And of you don’t have the packets a few teaspoons of salt wrapped up in cotton t-shirt material works fine too.

Never tried rice but should work too. The heat is the main thing. You could try the oven but I don’t recommend it 🤣

You can sent them to me if you want. By mid April my dog’s turds turn to ash before they hit the ground. I guarantee my services, they will be FREE of of ANY moisture when I ship them back to you 🤣

Might as well try the microwave if your going to use an oven. a few sparks never hurt anyone
