I’ll run one of my 4” .44 Mags in Special.
Of my Ruger Kodiak.
It's not as ubiquitous or easily accessible as Glock's Blue Label program, but S&W has a MIL/LE program with a pretty significant discount. It would be worth the time to track down a distributor.

What’s the difference between the 69 and 629?

The 69 is an L frame and uses the 2 piece barrel configuration. Might be a bit lighter compared to the N frame 629. Both chamber and fire 44 SPL/Mag.

69 is a 5 shot (same as the 396 Night Guard.). 629 holds 6.

Weight wise, the difference between the Model 69 and the 396 is 12oz. Just food for my brain. In case I get desperate.

I need to go weigh my 629... Then again, I might not like the answer since it might kill my reasons for being interested in the 396...

Well, Bud’s has one now. And with tax, would be $1,400ish. Nope, I’m out. Oh well, it was a thought.

Guess I’ll start looking for a 3” Ruger GP-100 in .44 Spl.

Saw a used model 69 last week tagged at $749 if that’s of any interest.

I might hit you up. I’m away from home for a while. But, when I get back.
Originally, I wasn’t wanting another Mag as I have several. Wanted a dedicated Special. But, doing the math, I have comparable mags that could shoot specials. So, I need to do the logistics in my head.
Looking at gun weights and seeing if I’m actually gaining a lighter gun or just spending money for something I already have.
