Old tech saves the day… 😎

Post by Wambli Ska »

Moving to a new place and a bunch of our stuff is still n the old house. I’m using the new house as my office so I can be here as stuff gets delivered, installed, fixed etc. So I come in every day before the sun is up and it’s usually dark by the time I leave. Normally just blow past lunch and I’m starving when I get home!!!

Today I’m waiting for a TV delivery and I was getting a headache from hunger. Hummmm, I remember I have a few pounds of bacon in the fridge. Let’s see, 10 cans of pinto beans in the pantry!!! Ha!!! Lunch right there. I have every thing I need except a can freakin’ opener. And then I remember that for the past year or so I’ve been carrying an old Remington Boy Scout type knife and it has an old can opening blade.

This knife is probably the handiest thing I’ve ever carried. It’s a bit bulky for normal pocket carry and has some heft to it. A few times it even slid out of my pocket which sucks since I don’t want to lose it. But I found a stainless chain on Amazon Prime meant for pocket watches and it is perfect to make sure I’m now attached to it.

So old tech saves the day. It took me a minute to remember how to do this but in no time I was cruising through the task. And just like that…. Pinto beans and bacon!!! 😁

Damn I’m happy I have this thing on me.

I think one of my antique leathermans has a blade like that. Can't say I've ever used it though. As for lunch, well it's probably good your there alone

Hell, a flathead screwdriver and a hammer works as well.

Knife blade alone will work.

It'll pass as a bottle opener also. 😉

That I won’t do with a folder. There’s always another way. And I LOVE my blades.

If you loved Libby’s canned corned beef as much as I do you’d be an expert at it 🤣🤣🤣

GI P-38 can opener has lived on my key ring for probably 30 years.
WWJMBD?

I believe we should stand on Ceremony. . . while our friends handcuff the sanctimonious little prick and take him away.

I’ve used the opener on my SAK a few times. Works pretty good.
