I don't know how long these have been out but I just saw them. Hi lux is making a Unertl style scope. I think they look cool. You could do a (mostly) period correct WWII sniper rifle.

I love Unertls. However, as mounted on a BP rifle, I doubt it would afford the elevation beyond 150 yards before you'll be looking at the barrel. If it's a good scope, and today, most scopes are, it would look good on a .22 Hornet.

I have a couple of old Mossberg Target guns from the 40s and 50s. That might be an option for them. First I have to decide if I'm keeping them.

$800 just to make something look period correct ?

I wouldn't but not everyone is so po'. I hear some rich folks pay that much to hunt in the dark. :D

It's not just to make it correct but also so you can shoot it accurately with modern optics.
